A-L-E-K
If things can move around at the right time, I think it has some bomb potential. Or, you can wait for angrysummons to come in here and say it's wrong...and the pattern is a torch. i totally buy the cold and bomb potential down the road, it's just that kind of year

Harry
when the hell is that rubber band gonna break? Amazing stuff here. Considering what March and the rest of 2012 was like i think the rubber band HAS broke. But yeah that euro was epic to say the least. For many that would be record setting cold for so late in the season. 2mTemps drop to near -20 here with highs around 5. The latest euro weeklies supports it well. Just updated today. They have below normal temps for weeks 2, 3, and 4 which takes us to March 17th. Weeks 2 and 4 are the coldest.

I guess not being downwind of the lake helps...though strangely, DTW has somehow gone below zero more recently in March. Weird that March is the same month we are 2 years removed from seeing subforum-wide 80's...yet has that many subzero days too. Truly a battleground month. Chicago WX
Taken from the Mid-Atlantic sub-forum. I don't mean to fill the thread with too much technical talk, but the global state of AAM/tropical forcing best represents late Dec right now. It is no surprise that this warm-shot is coming with what has been unfolding in these other areas. Following the progression, we should be matched nicely to early Jan next week...there was a pretty nice storm 1/2-3, along with the cold then.
