lol.

I didn't exactly know where Jackson was, but that looks like a pretty good spot.  How far of a drive from like Boston is that?

Also, looking at the topo map, how does Plymouth get downsloped?  It seems like it would have to be a NE wind?  Which I guess would include the larger Nor'easter coastal storms...a moist SEly flow looks like it would upslope into that area?

There aren't many big snow events that occur on southerly winds at the surface. Usually east or northeast....downslope city.

He doesn't ski but Wildcat is there and up the road Mt Washington, its a nice spot for sure though. Far enough away from the insanity that is North Conway

Well I'd think there are plenty that occur with SEly flow?  Or I guess its probably SEly changing to NEly as the storm passes south.

I just figured they'd get slammed with moisture coming in on a H85-H9 SEly jet.

Tell me about it.  As we've been looking at spots up there, I'm pushing as far away from there as possible.

RN+ again.  Temp stepped back a tick.

in VT:

AT 526 PM EST AN ICE JAM WAS REPORTED ON THE MAD RIVER NEAR RT 100B IN MORETOWN. STATE POLICE REPORTS THE ICE IS MOVING TOWARDS WAITSFIELD AND IS ALSO IMPACTING STEVENS BROOK ROAD IN MORETOWN. IN ADDITION TO THE ICE JAM...RAINFALL WILL CAUSE ADDITIONAL RIVER RISES ON THE MAD RIVER.

Well, if they can't get snow, may as well get an ice jam.

They do better when the flow aloft is more srly to serly. They may be light east or NE at the surface but just aloft if the winds can go more SE, they'll funnel up the river valley, Baker...Pemi rivers etc. Even the nrn part of Winnipesaukee where I am can get shadowed from the Ossipees.

Welp, back from a day in the balmy Berkshires to a more comfortable 36F and a driveway that is still like waxed glass.

N Adams to the E Slope along the Mohawk Trail  temps were in the low 50's and upper 40's and then plunged within minutes/miles dropping back into the valley. Snow pack lives for another day for whatever that is worth.

That TAN thermo is at least 4-5 degrees too warm. No one around there anywhere near that temp. Laughable

64° does appear to be a tad warm, doesn't it?  You'd think in this kind of air mass and given the geographical area that it would be within a couple of degrees of nearby stations.  There's sharp gradients elsewhere in SNE but that's terrain influenced.
