Cold Miser
Rant over on the driving but what a beautiful snow, so light and fluffy, awesome wintry appeal, was outside just enjoying it while it dumped, have to enjoy the in the moment stuff this winter. True. As far as snow totals, nothing to complain about. Complaints about overall pattern and staying power of snow, yes, but definitely no complaints on totals thus far. CoastalWx
If they plow and sand here and only 3 cars come by then the road is still packed, if they plow and sand there and 350 cars come by, well you get the point. Well there is a plow followed by a salt truck. So they do a good job with the roads.
Baroclinic Zone
Nice snow at work from persistent frontogenesis here. Roads are a disaster apparently. They got progressively worse as I headed up 495. Traffic was still moving 65-70mph though until you hit the hills in Wrentham where it slowed to 30-40. snowman21
Your roads look better than my backroads, what a disaster commute, people who do not know how to drive in the snow should stay the F home, multiple spin outs on the way in. I agree with this. You'd think this was South Carolina. It's like people in Connecticut have never had to drive in an inch or two of snow. If they plow and sand here and only 3 cars come by then the road is still packed, if they plow and sand there and 350 cars come by, well you get the point. This is where we get lucky. For times like these your town should use ice melter where you need something to actively melt the snow and ice. Dumping salt and sand when it's 15 degrees is pretty useless especially in your area where there is a lack of traffic to aid in bringing up the pavement temp. Sugarloaf1989
The commute into work here today was a breeze with well plowed and salted roads. I-84 was moving along at the speed limit. Today was 99% better than the commuting disaster on tuesday, when it took me 37 minutes to do the 8 mile commute to work.
