usedtobe
The last outlook looking at the 1st 7 days of January worked OK. Now for another chance to look foolish. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/capital-weather-gang/wp/2014/01/03/brutal-cold-coming-late-monday-then-a-pattern-change/
Bob Chill
Well written and most likely accurate about week 2 but I have to give it a 1/10. I'm sure you understand.

It could always end up being wrong though in general sense the models have been pretty good with the patterns this winter. I'm sure you saw this coming. Kevin Druff
Wes -- you're killing me today. First, you show off a yard full of snow in the other thread then you confirm my suspicions that those of us who didn't get meaningful snow last night are punting pretty much the next 2 to 3 weeks at best. Killing me. Absolutely killing me.

winterymix
Wes: thanks for the fine articles and also, kudos on your responses in the comments section. It takes patience not to scream at some of the "commentators".

It takes patience not to scream at some of the "commentators". Thanks, I try to be careful about how I respond to the various comments. I actually have a harder time dealing with DT comments than some of the others though I do want to correct misconceptions. Of course sometimes, I just bite my tongue and move on occasionally venting here.
needbiggerboat
Nice article. I gave you carp for going bullish on increased snow chances so far in advance of first week of Jan, but you were right on point. Well done....perhaps you should become a long range forecaster. I feel pretty good about the increased chances of snow call but still couched it in probabilities. I'm also happy that the analogs worked for both the snow and the cold.
