snowfan
Few more randos from Tuesday. Really hoping for 2-3 more events this winter. Once it starts snowing I get greedy.

MDphotog
Nice shots on those flakes. Macro lens with true 1:1 magnification? Extension tubes? Thanks snowman, love your work as well. Those were shot with the Canon 100mm 2.8L Macro, love the lens. It is 1:1 and as a bonus you get a fantastic portrait lens as well. I have not tried using extension tubes with it yet, but I am curious to see what that could produce.
MDphotog
Nice shots MDphotog. What equipment did you use? I'm looking into getting a dslr but unsure which direction to go. Thank you VAsnowlvr82. Those were all shot with a macro lens on a Canon 40D and Canon 7D, honestly though each brand (Canon, Nikon, Sony) are pretty close in performance and you wouldn't go wrong with any. I would try to find somewhere where you can get your hands on the major brands, literally, so you can see how they each feel in your hands. MDphotog
Here is what the other camera and tripod was working on during the snow. This is the third time-lapse I have attempted and still got some work to do on improving, but I do like how this turned out.

MDphotog
Great time-lapse! Where was that taken? Thanks WxUSAF, It is off my 3rd floor balcony in Glen Burnie. It will be the thing I miss most about this place. Great views when the thunderstorms roll thru.
MDphotog
Thank you! I love your macro shots! Thank you very much. It is my favorite lens to use now. It is a wee bit expensive, but worth every penny. Great for macro and portrait. Can't wait to go bug hunting with it in the spring

ThePhotoGuy
I felt like I was out west or in the northeast this afternoon. Frozen ponds with blowing snow, light snow falling, and temperatures in the mid-20s. It didn’t feel like Central Maryland!

Kay
Earlier today got these pics of a great blue heron, just standing in the yard in the sun. Unusual behavior...I wonder if they're hungry. Pics not too good, shot through a door so as not to scare away.

snowfan
Nice. Assuming the river has a thin sheet of ice on it at this point? Were you standing along side Washington Blvd?
Ian
Nice. Assuming the river has a thin sheet of ice on it at this point? Were you standing along side Washington Blvd? Around there it was mostly ice covered.. probably fairly thick in spots but some larger holes out near the middle in spots. Yeah, I was right next to that and pretty close to the bridge at that pt. One of my last shots of the day. I saw a boat that at first I thought was a hovercraft but I'm guessing it's more like an airboat? It's a police boat.. I'll have to pull up a pic of it. Kay
I walked out on the ice yesterday. Awesome, and safe as can be...as evidenced by the ice boats. A thin coating of snow from Saturday gave traction and made it easy walking too...except near the shore, where I almost fell on my arse a couple times. nw baltimore wx
Wow. Seeing an ice boat around these parts is less likely than spotting a snowy owl.
