nj2va
356 feet. I'm going to remeasure in a few minutes. Yeah, on average NArl does better but I was under some good bands earlier (and now).

WinterWxLuvr
Must be getting colder up top...flakes look different.... Have no flakes to judge by, but the temp isn't really dropping much here yet. Only down about 2 degrees since 4 pm. Currently 28.9.

needbiggerboat
It looks to me that the radar is starting to fill in and move s/n just east of Charlottesville and further south. If this indeed happening, I think it will be west of DC and should keep you guys in the snow for a good while. Agree with that ob/hallucination...I have some 30 dbz returns building to my SW and moving in a more N orientation...on the edge but think IAD area will remain in the game. NorthArlington101
Nj, my yard is sloped but I think I also have around 2, maybe 2.1 at this point. If snow keeps going might get 3. ( though some spots read more then that, so it might be a little conservative at 2) Seems to me a little bit south of DC got the best bands, but NE got more just because it's colder. ThePhotoGuy
3.7" and counting. Nice! I will have to go out and check in a few. I think where I was measuring before was more in a sheltered area and totals are higher.
Avdave
Great pic Ion!!!! Love a city in the snow. looks great. On another note. it is going to be a biotch to move the snow tomorrow morning with the bitter cold air moving in. Salt wont make much of a difference

eurojosh
To be fair, while the precise forecast has been shaky, I was able to say to my daughter on Sunday December 22nd that I didn't think it would snow until at least the Thursday after new year... and voila...! Magic to her, amazing capacity to model future weather to me...

ThreeRedheads
Man there's a lot of accumulation of wet snow on the tree branches....pretty...but could be some power issues later Just had to shake the snow off of one of my small trees near my house. For those interested, here are some snow totals by county as of 8:32pm: http://www.wunderground.com/US/VA/053.html#PUB

WinterWxLuvr
The rapid temperature drops are modeled to hold off until after midnight. Only negative there is the wind is going to strip the snow out of the trees.
