NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NASHVILLE TN

905 PM CST SUN JAN 5 2014

.MESOSCALE UPDATE...

ARCTIC FRONT HAS MOVED EAST OF THE CWA WITH SNOW NOW BEING

REPORTED IN MUCH OF EASTERN ZONES. WITH SNOW EXPECTED ON THE

PLATEAU AT LEAST THROUGH MIDNIGHT...REISSUED THE WINTER WEATHER

ADVISORY FOR THE PLATEAU COUNTIES AS THEY SHOULD EASILY PICK UP 1

TO 2 INCHES OF SNOW OVER THE NEXT FEW HOURS. AREAS WITHIN MAIN

PRECIP SHIELD WEST OF THE PLATEAU CAN EXPECT UP TO ONE HALF INCH

OF SNOW. NO CHANGES WERE MADE TO WIND CHILL ADVISORIES/WARNINGS

OTHER THAN TO FRESHEN UP WORDING. GRIDS/ZONES ALSO UPDATED BASED

ON LATEST OBS/TRENDS.

FURTHER NORTHWEST...STRONG CAA CONTINUES WITH TEMPERATURES NOW IN

THE LOW/MID 20S. PAH/TBNA RADAR SHOWS LIGHT LOW LEVEL SNOW SHOWERS

CONTINUE TO SPREAD SOUTHEASTWARD INTO THE MID STATE WITH SNOW NOW

REPORTED AT CKV AND SNOW APPROACHING BNA. NONE OF THE MODELS ARE

PICKING UP ON THIS LOW LEVEL ACTIVITY WHICH APPEARS TO BE IN

ASSOCIATION WITH MAIN UPPER JET NOW AT 170 KT OVER WEST TN PER

RUC. LIKELY VERY HIGH SNOW RATIOS WITH THIS ACTIVITY POSSIBLY

NEARING 20:1...SO A DUSTING OR FEW TENTHS OF AN INCH IS NOT OUT

OF THE QUESTION...MAINLY ALONG AND NORTH OF I-40.

Stovepipe, here too! Some decent size flakes mixed in. I want to go sit in my snow covered car and watch it. It sticking, or laying as we say where I grew up, on the road, too.

Whoo hoooo!  And by the looks of the radar we still have an hour or so to go!  I've been snapping pics but there are so many flake tracers with the flash on they don't turn out well.  We might hit an inch if this keeps up.  I'm sure northern folks checking in here are laughing, but this is a big deal for us!
