Working under some heavy flurries in parts of Kingsport this morning. Have seen a few fairly dense bands of dime to nickel sized flakes (those in the Orebank area). Nothing major but nice to see!

Cold/windy enough this morning to once again make me question the choice of an outside career! LOL Catching a little warmth in the truck before I hit the cold again...

Down to 1 at my place this morning.

I will also say that working outside this morning was fairly brutal at times. I've been doing this for a lot of years (20) and have good cold weather gear. This morning was the first time in about five years that I've been fairly miserable off and on for several hours due to cold temps/wind. We were working near a fairly deep creek and it had a skim of ice over 1/3 of the surface and thicker layers near the banks. Frozen precip or not...it's winter for sure! ;)

Temp is 20 here which is much lower than surrounding areas. First batch of returns came through this morning and there were some flurries which dusted the truck and car. That was good to see that it was not virga at the start. I feel confident in a quick inch or two with this clipper. Low last night got down to 5 with perfect radiational cooling conditions.

Well yesterday morning it got down to -1 here and down to 2 at KTRI. I've always noticed KTRI is 3-5 degrees colder than the surrounding areas. This has been the case for many years. I don't know if it is just because it's warmer at the airport or the elevation is different than surrounding areas?

Looks like I-40 is the cutoff point.  Living in the Cedar Bluff area of Knoxville is not the place if you want snow.  It is amazing how many times it is the demarcation, snow to the north and nothing to the south.  I guess everyone feels like their location is the cut off point but I think it is true for this area.

I'm just south of you in the bluegrass area. That quick burst gave me a light dusting. Looks like another wave is on its way. I hope you get some flizzard love from it.
