John1122
And this one fizzled right out. Poor MRX, can't catch a break. The one night they have no advisories, several of us get advisory level snows. Every time we get an advisory, virga storms happen and we barely get flakes at all. Extended looks like more of the same. 3 more clippers in the next week, somewhere between a flizzard and an inch possible if you're lucky.
John1122
Temp is up slightly, to 30 degrees, precip is falling as sleet and light freezing rain right now.
Stovepipe
Woke up to 40 degrees. Looks like another crappy clipper where I'll get light drizzle before turning off cold again, yay.
John1122
The temps around the area are amazing. I'm at 27 currently, Middlesboro is 28, Tri is 31, and the rest of the area is downright balmy. TYS has been 46-47 all night long.

Mr Bob
Woke up to 40 degrees. Looks like another crappy clipper where I'll get light drizzle before turning off cold again, yay. It was almost warm when I got into the car at 6a....
Blue Ridge
Radar returns have blossomed over the past thirty minutes. So far, it's nothing more than a virga blizzard - save for a brief moment of "something" falling on campus (ETSU). Temperatures are a concern, though the HRRR has looked impressive for very heavy snow showers across the Tri-Cities this afternoon once the cold has moved in. Stovepipe
Glad some people are getting snow. Man, even a half inch here would be awesome. Sigh.
1234snow
Going to get downsloped again here once the precip pushes east and develops. WRF shows this nicely. Blue Ridge I think you will do okay and that goes for points east and southeast of here. Who's ready for a gulf low instead of a clipper? Mr Bob
Quite a flizzard blast followed by some light rain and then over in downtown Chatt....of course it is still in the 40s...
tnweathernut
On and off snow shower/graupel activity in Erwin, temps in the mid to upper 30s.
nrgjeff
Trace of sticking snow in downtown Chatty. I would not even call it a dusting, but it definitely stuck to grassy surfaces. Snow shower winding down and still above freezing. One can safely assume radar echos from the Plateau east are valid, esp 15+ dbz. Enjoy!
1234snow
Temp down to 37 here with flurries. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
suzbyrd
On and off snow shower/graupel activity in Erwin, temps in the mid to upper 30s. Weathernut, gotta go over Sam's gap this aft and then back tonite. What's the verdict in terms of travel?

Blue Ridge
Constant snowfall of varying intensity has been falling on campus for around 45 minutes. The temperature is still in the middle 30s, and wind is picking up.
tnweathernut
Weathernut, gotta go over Sam's gap this aft and then back tonite. What's the verdict in terms of travel? Will probably be snowcovered. I am sure they will have rather consistent heavy squalls all afternoon and into the evening.
dwagner88
And now there is a dusting on the grassy areas.
Stovepipe
On and off flizzards in Knoxvile, temp was 45 now down to 42. Man I miss the old school clippers that used to be good for 2 to 3 inches. Can't buy one this winter.

John1122
Downsloping is killing NE TN and SW VA right now. The Cumberlands in Kentucky are like a wall. Not much going on here, it snowed enough earlier to dismiss schools, but nothing much since, I don't think this one will make it to an inch either. I swear I used to love hearing Clipper, I've never saw this many in a row be such big misses.
suzbyrd
Just drove over Sam's Gap from TN to NC. Snowing hard up top but getting into Asheville it just petered out.
John1122
Asheville is one of the places that gets downsloped the most in the Southern Apps. We have a moderate flizzard, 24 degrees and a dusting so far.
Reb
I went up to Cades Cove this afternoon and hit some pretty heavy snow, will have some video after it all loads up.
John1122
Upslope is underway here. Snow has steadily increased, it often does as dark approaches in these situations here. Temp is in free fall, down to 19 now.
