sferic
Some light snow north of I-80 by 12Z Thursday. Moderate snow arrives 06z Friday, Done by 18z Friday. The Euro was vastly improved from previous runs, It starts snowing before 9AM in the city tomorrow and doesn't stop until noon on Friday. I am confused in your opinion when does NYC start and end? IntenseBlizzard2014
At hour 48 850 temps are in the -12 to -16 range but snow is ending at that point. You have to look at the 700 mB for the snowfall ratios.
Stormlover74
I am confused in your opinion when does NYC start and end? Keep in mind whatever falls during daylight hours tomorrow is going to be light and spotty. Some places pick up an inch others maybe a coating. NEXtreme
This was a big step beginning to consolidate the low further west during the day tomorrow. One more shift west at 0z would make a lot of people happy here. I think we clearly know where all of this is going. The trends continue to look very very good. Stormlover74
Can any mets weigh into why the Hudson valley barely makes it .5" Qpf you'll make up for it with better ratios up there so I wouldn't worry too much about it

SleetStormNJ
Keep in mind whatever falls during daylight hours tomorrow is going to be light and spotty. Some places pick up an inch others maybe a coating. Yup, the main thrust from this event comes in later and accumulations will pile up overnight into the morning. Looks like some northern areas though might get a nice band or two from the overrunning.
hudsonvalley21
you'll make up for it with better ratios up there so I wouldn't worry too much about it I would think Upton's current snow maps are good per this euro run for the inland sections. DiehardFF
Remember, you get better ratio snowfall when its light to moderate, IIRC. Nice event for you guys in the NYC area. Might be near blizzard conditions for a period.

jm1220
the differences between this run and 0z are huge at the surface I had a feeling the surface would finally catch up to what went on aloft. It just makes no sense that a powerful trough and 500mb vort with that track wouldn't be a significant event for the area. The trend today makes me think 12" is possible in some places. jm1220
Expect mt holly to issue winter storm warnings this afternoon Rossi I would think at least down to Trenton and Ocean/Monmouth Counties. The models today hit them pretty hard on Friday Morning. They should probably have blizzard warnings, as should Long Island.
