HoarfrostHubb
Surprised your son's school hasn't closed through Tuesday by now. lol... they were already off Thurs & Friday (as was my wife's...) We cancelled ski club for Thurs already. Would be great to ski in, but the idea of 2 busses going up and down Rte Poop is not a good idea with this
HoarfrostHubb
Completely agree ... It also has better long term verification scores. I do not mean that folks should adopt an immediate poo-poo tact with the Euro, no -- more at what you say, knowing that it can at times flop around a bit. I think trying to identify when those times will be (perhaps using this and others to case study) would be useful for the future. One question I do have re its verification scores: Is that in quadrature, or is that the whole hemisphere ... planet, integrated ? I mean, if it has the best scores overall for the integrated domain of the entire NH (or the planet...), but consummately f-ups up say ...just over N/A, that would be less useful to us to put it nicely... Weenie question, but do the American models even look at the rest of the world in any detail?
ORH_wxman
Weenie question, but do the American models even look at the rest of the world in any detail? GFS is a global model...the NAM isn't.
HoarfrostHubb
GFS is a global model...the NAM isn't. Thank you...So Tip's question is def interesting.
40/70 Benchmark
It can go a little overboard with terrain enhancment/shadowing (SW NH for example). Coastal band/subsidence is probably legitimate. Agreed. I like it for e MA.
40/70 Benchmark
Normally I'd be fuming right now, but I saw this coming a mile away. These very cold events. I which the coast is favored, tend to slap my area with subsidence. I'll probably get 6-9".

Ginx snewx
Man awesome day on the trails today flat and fast, I see the euro caved to the GFS , Kudos on the AmericansNice get out in it. GFS has had a good handle on the thermals , I wonder if the Euro's too cold in the lower levels is screwing up its dynamically induced precip. 40/70 Benchmark
On that logic someone in Quincy does extremely well with the Blue Hills, correct? With MQE approaching 670 feet, and there are like 25-35 other hills in the area over 200. You'll do fine, but you start lose the most favorable angle for oes fetch. 40/70 Benchmark
But Ray says he's only getting 6". I said I could fathom it. The RPM is prob a bit extreme, but 8-10" in my area is reasonable. I'm not whining....just my thoughts.
40/70 Benchmark
I think Ray will be getting more than me Ehhh....prob similar. Generally, I'm in a more favorable area, but I'm at higher risk of being in subsidence.

40/70 Benchmark
But Ray says he's only getting 6". I don't blame him....you can't forecast to account for slight nuances such as subsidence zones, its a death wish. I have that luxury because I am not on air, or making a living doing this.
