Just checked CLT's monthly numbers......8.7 degrees below normal for the first 10 days of Jan. Just like December's early warm spell caused us to be above normal for Dec, this early January cold outbreak will be hard to erase. I just can't see us finishing above average this month without a serious torch.

This has been the decade of extremes and it looks to continue ;)

We have been getting quite a good rain today, plus its thundering and lightning too. I think we will have above average rain by the end of this weekend. Wow on the average temp.

CAE has recorded 1.42 so far and I've been enjoying listening to the rain with the occasional rumble of thunder   ^_^

Getting dumped on here in Clayton for the last hour or so. Raining too hard to go check the gauge, but looking at the roadside ditches, I'm guessing 1.25" - 1.50"in that period, in addition to the light rain we've had since mid afternoon. Very foggy and 61 at the house right now.

The wedge front held strong last night right about Raleigh. The airport(NW of Raleigh) stayed in the mid 40s until this last hour were it shot up to 58. I'm about 10 miles(as a crow flies) NE of the airport and still in the upper 40s.I expect my temp to jump anytime now.

Edit: At 7am, Airport has jumped to 62 and I've jumped to 52.

Thanks Mother Nature for waking me and my dog up with your thunder boomers and then not allowing me to take her out to pee because you flooded my entire neighborhood. A bird would sink into my yard like quicksand right now. And a newly formed Kernersville river has cut a path through my back yard.

Significant C2C lightning with this line and I love the deep, long rolling thunder!

Just saw that on radar. Dont know what we did to deserve all this rain but it looks like we might get off to a fast start against the drought meter. Just hope we dont repeat 2013 again where I lose my boating weekends to rain and then my yard to a late season dry spell. I would gladly settle for 1/2 inch of rain every tuesday/ thursday and sunday night. Lol.

Just got woken up by the tornado siren 100 feet fe my house. So much for sleeping in. The transformer has buzzed twice as well. Lots of lightning so can I expect my ice storm in two weeks jburns?

Nope.  In two weeks you can expect to be thinking, "That was a hell of a storm two weeks ago".

You and me both. Bought a pontoon in august. Went out 3 times and one of those we had to get off lake as it was storming

The part of the line here and to the south has really slowed down it's been pouring for at least a half hour. Now have 2 inches even..1.35 of that with this line.
