As it stands now, 46°F (47°F at Hartsfield Int'l) might be our high for today. Light rain has moved in and dropped us down to 44.3°F. That CAD has seemed to have held it's grip longer than I expected despite occasional SE and ESE winds eroding at it from the south and west.

where was this rain about 24 hours ago lol.  37 and light rain here - too bad this isnt what we were seeing on the radar yesterday

Temp is 41 atm. Makes me wonder how much lower it will go tonight. Forecasted low of 42 tonight and forecasted high 44 around sunrise.

While I can't say for everybody looking at the soundings its going to be very close aloft as that band moves through. Atleast my standpoint of north of 85 and durham. Most models have it near 50 before the front but I dont see it happening even though the wedge is weak.

Talk about the wedge front; it did pass my location today. Temp at the house rose to 57 late this afternoon(low 60s at RDU). The front has pushed back east of my location about 30 minutes ago and the temp has dropped to 51 and still dropping fast. This is the third time this year we've had a front waver over the Raleigh area.

It got pretty close here today aswell. Made it to 48 but still feels like its cooling more. Yeah we've had a good amount of CAD events this year. Some weak some stronger but that sounds typical... usually it Raleigh to 95.

18 and snow flurries in northeast Cherokee... wind chill of about 6.  We dropped about 10 degrees to go below freezing around 3am, very quickly, and have been sinking 1-2 degrees per hour since then.  At least here where I am, on the north side of a ridge, the winds are not bad - quite gusty earlier but now just slow and steady breeze, enough to keep the wind chimes stirred.

You shouldn't have much problem going below zero tonight.  Per model soundings, i'd be pretty surprised if you don't.

the forecasted temp is 3 so it is certainly close enough to drop that extra little bit...sort of hoping it does just because lol. not much difference between 3 and -1 but since it doesnt happen often we might as well go for the gold

Temp dropped11 degrees in 20 mins when the front passed and has fallen another 2 in the last 20 mins so thats a decent swing.....still the forecasted low tonight is 13 so we need to drop another 40 degrees on top of the 13 we already have by morning. If it pulls it off it will be one of the larger temp swings I can remember.......

Is WRAL underestimating the wind chills in NC? "Wind chills could drop to 7 degrees in Raleigh, 6 degrees in Rocky Mount and 10 degrees in Goldsboro and Fayetteville, Johnson said.

Farther north and to the west, Greensboro and Danville, Va., could see a wind chill near 0"

Edit: Nevermind. They seem to have updated the article with the wind chill advisory.

At this rate the coast could reach a wind chill of zero. Latest RAP for 3am
