Did you see snow last night or did you miss it?

High was 46 today. Currently 37 with a freeze warning.

Nawww, it was north of me.  I went out and looked but I spent my time enjoying my favorite constellation, the 7 Sisters, lol.  Marietta gets all the good stuff in the flurry category, but I expect Gainesville did ok, they usually get some on the ground if north Atl is getting flurries.

How cold do you think you'll get?  I'm figuring to bust by a few degrees.  A 5 wouldn't surprise me, if I get a 7 spot forecast from NWS.  I'm pretty sure I'll bust the 12 I got 3 years ago.  T

I'm thinking we will get down to 19 on Tuesday morning. Models are colder than that, but we usually are 2+ degrees warmer than all the surrounding areas.

17 here in the heart of the triad this morning. Maybe another degree or so to drop before the sun pops up but i believe our forecasted low was 20. Dropped us down to 6 for Monday night! Now freezing rain mix tomorrow am and rain snow mix monday am. Scroll back to pre-christmas and none of this was modeled correctly with an early january torch being the consensus. Man would it be nice to pull a below normal rabbit out of the january hat!

Cloud deck rolled in pretty quickly in the wee hours.  Be interesting to how this effects forecast highs for today.  Might up the chance for a little glaze overnight for NE Ga?

GSP has noted temps are probably too warm. FFC is forecasting 44 for today and that seems almost impossible right now since the cloud deck is rather thick and will only get thicker and temps have barely moved since sunrise..still only 27. Nam is showing temps barely getting above freezing along the 85 corridor now for highs (temp actually drops from 35 to 33 in gainesville from 18z to 21z)  with temps tonight at or below freezing over much of north ga/carolinas.

It's been showing tonight's temps near freezing for a while now.  A lot depends on just how warm we get today. Dewpoints will rise before precip starts  but if we warm up 5 or 6 degrees less than what is forecasted, I would think there is probably a good chance of some light freezing rain over a large portion of the area if we get enough precip to get down to the wetbulb before dewpoints rise..but there might not even be enough precip to do that.

But although amounts will be light, if we actually are able to get below freezing..could be some real slick driving conditions in spots because the ground is frozen right now

Or will be like 32.1 and raining :arrowhead:

Surprised to hear it's overcast just south of here. Crystal clear blue skies. I think the low was 15 but hit the reset button just as min temp popped up. All I got was a glimpse lol

Well that was stupid :P

GSP actually says this cloud cover will keep us warmer over night and decrease freezing rain chances. I understand their reasoning but on the other hand, if there was any clearing this evening...it would be offset by the warming after it goes fully overcast that no doubt would occur given temps above the surface. In other words, I would tend to think if there were any breaks it wouldn't make any difference.

We'll see..though it's hardly a big deal one way or the other.

I just checked out the visible satellite and the cloud versus no cloud line is basically at the NC/SC border.  Blue skies and sun up here in Hickory with an IMBY temp of 25.3 F currently.  I would actually love to see the clouds move this way, and soon.  The dew point is still really low at 14 F.

Yeah it is def straddling the nc/sc border. Interesting too its picked up well on the infrared.
