WxKnurd
Want me to drive to Mt. Holly and send you pics Sure, and I'll send pics of the drifts up here haha. 3-4" of powder can pile up DEEP on the side of the road and in ditches when you add some wind in the mix up here in the farmland areas. I was in snow up to my knee yesterday afternoon when I stepped out to look at a power pole. What's sad is if there is this storm materializes and hugs the coast a little closer, there will be more snow at home then I have seen total fall up here so far the weeks I've been working. Have seen plenty of below zero and single digit temps though.

shaggy
MHX has added snow to our point and click for Tues-wed. Got it capped at 30% for now but we will see where it goes as the models do their shifting over the next couple days......that also puts onset at around 100 hours give or take. burgertime
in the main thread people seem convinced it is still trending west for some reason. The only model that trended "east" was the Euro...and it was less of an over all east trend as much as it was the energy was weaker if I was looking at it correctly. In fact it kind of trended west of the 00z run last night.

I'd love for this to dump on everyone but those type of widespread stormsa rarely happen.

weatherheels
Good point. For that matter, KGSO is in extreme western Guilford County, too. It's almost halfway between Greensboro and Winston-Salem. KINT is in northeastern Winston-Salem, IIRC. KRDU is northwest of Raleigh where I-40 and I-540 come together. True, I live in Kvegas, but only about 4-5 miles from KGSO... On this past storm it was pretty impressive that winston salem didnt get anything... the snow basically started accumulating in the NE corner of Fosyth, if you were west of that, no good for you. Kind of like the carolina crusher... wasnt winston stuck with nothing? KGSO had like 6", but on the eastern side of Gboro, it was almost a foot. If I'm remembering correctly. A lot of times KINT and KGSO very greatly in accumulation even though they arent far apart. Triad gets slashed a lot one way or the other... Downtown Winston had 2 inches while 4 miles a way on clemmonsville rd which is called south side had 11 inches. We plowed one day then went to Greensboro for three days where parts had 20 inches just depended on where in Greensboro you were. Shut down a lot of Greensboro. Banks are not allowed to be closed two consecutive business days but that week they were due to snow

I know it's all relative but I always get a laugh out of florida, south tx, etc issuing wind chill advisories for windchills in the 20s and 30s. Just like folks in the far north laugh at us and our cities shutting down over an inch of snow lol Anywho, i just can't shake this feeling that the interior southeast is going to get screwed on this upcoming storm. That's been the theme of the winter so far, despite it being cold as hell here. By the time it's over, probably 98% of the country east of the rockies will have seen some type of wintery precip..and of course I'll be in that 2% that has not seen a single flake, sleet pellet, or drop of freezing rain..along with central and south florida. It might be 5 days away or whatever and it could change for the better but i think those of us in north ga and western carolinas are going to be sick to our stomachs watching it snow hard on the ga/carolina coast while we bask in our dry and cold...before the pattern gives up and we get warm again. I sure hope I'm wrong as hell. And you guys let me know if anyone finds any surviving CAD wedges/winter storms. They apparently are extinct. One has not been seen in countless years. The joys of living in north ga..sigh.

Lookout
This place has seriously changed in the past couple of years. the joys of growing. I'm not sure which is more annoying.those who think there is a trend in one direction or the other when non exist or those who will deny a trend because it will mean less for them. What drives me really crazy though are these people who will ask a question that they can so damn easily answer themselves just by reading the thread and using just a tiny bit of common sense. But no, they have no desire to learn themselves or take the time to read..they would rather have someone explain it to them personally..after it's been explained already a dozen times. GSO, 15 miles North of me, reported about 6". Yep, I got about 6" out of both of those storms, and within 20 miles SE or E or NE received well over a foot. It's painful when someone so close gets hit with an historic storm, and you're sitting there with "only" 6".... BUT, it would have been a lot worse had I been 20 miles west..
