superjames1992
What the hell did they issue a Winter Storm Warning in South FL for? Or is that an error?Hawaii is not surprising because Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa get a lot of snow.I haven't had a Winter Storm Warning since 1/17/13, which verified here. franklin NCwx
I would post more but I have been too busy shoveling fantasy euro snowfall. While the gfs has had its butt kicked in overall patter. It has not been snowstorm happy in the 5-7 day range like the euro. All one has to do is go back thru the threads. Even look at last year. franklin NCwx
Examples.pleasewill have more time later to go back, adding up tax reciepts. I know there was one about ten dAys ago, Marion posted a wxbell snow map. I remember rdwx commenting he would be in sylva. Was a good hit for the mtns since it was a piedmont runner. Like I said go thru the past three months and you will see. You can even find me saying "the euro is on its own again with a fantasy snowstorm". Ever since they did some upgrade to the euro in mid winter of 10-11 it has been snowstorm happy. In fact I remember it started its downfall with me by hangers on to a coastal in feb of 11 while even the nam had an apps runner.

Ok I do remember that one last week but let's face it there is some pretty strong agreement with the ensembles this time. As some pretty heavy hitters have said its just one days worth of modeling. It is however in the euro's wheel house. Let's see what tonight brings and let's have fun with this. We are tracking snowstorm! How cool is that..! superjames1992
Here is one from November! http://i.imgur.com/a5LBrKu.png 200+ hrs out.... The Euro has had a couple false alarms this year inside 200 hours, but so has every other model. We'll see what the Euro does tonight. If it holds, then we might be in business. It has ensemble support, too, which I'm not sure was the case with these other false alarms.

Agreed, the Euro has missed some, so has the GFS but the GFS hasn't caved to the Euro on the majority of storms, it's been fairly even, IMO. packbacker
Also, I will say this, this storm is a classic Euro v/s GFS, if Euro pulls this off it will be king again. Like everyone has said, the Euro has been criticized a lot lately, some think justly, others unjustly. This storm has so much visibility it will definitely sway people one way or the other. Snowless in Carrollton
Is there anything worse than having two back to back horrible winters and then you finally get a winter where you have tons of cold but STILL don't get snow ? Talk about a tease this winter has been. After been tortured the last two winters this is just adding insult to injury. Oh, and seeing south Texas, the Carolina's, possibly Florida, and everywhere in between other than GA doesn't help either.
rduwx
I guess my thought process is the same as it has been for years with euro being the king. I do think the gfs has been better the past 2 years but if given the choice I would rather have the euro on my side.
