The current official NWS forecast is 36f for Thursday.

I have three different apps on my phone. The weatherbug app says 38, my primary WSI weather app says 31, weather channel says 31 and now you say 36. I would assume all of these draw upon NWS guidance. So whats the reasoning for the differences?

It has been absolutely remarkable to watch cold fronts move through Columbia this winter.  The cold air literally reaches the gulf coast and the Atlantic in North Carolina before it reaches the center of South Carolina.

It is still in the 40s in Columbia, 25 in Atlanta, 30 in Macon, GA, 27 in Raleigh, 32 in Charlotte, 34 in Mobile Alabama, its already dropped to 47 in Jacksonville.  I'm absolutely convinced there is some other reason in addition to being downwind of the apps that this area retains heat so well.

I'm done with this winter....done.....the best I can hope for is an extended spring to prolong the eventual 100+ degree days....sigh.

After having gone through (many years ago) basic training at Fort Jackson in Columbia SC, you would have to pay me SOOOOO much to live there that I could afford three girls following me wherever I went fanning me all day every day, and then I would have to think hard about it!

How did you like the low of 30F this morning in Columbia?  I cannot understand how it is in the 20s in pensacola, 22 in Macon, 24 Augusta, 30 in Columbia, and 20 in Raleigh.   It boggles the mind.  I don't know how it ever snows here.

  CAE only has about a 30% chance in a great winter to see any snow, let alone a winter that everything has to be perfect  :P   Don't get me wrong.......I do believe the areas that have seen snow(n.ga/upstate/nc) will continue to have chances, but for mby.....not seeing it. :(

It got down to 24 in my yard in Lexington SC.  I would think that Michelle's home wasn't too far off from that. KCAE is just warmer than some other areas around.  I wish we had an official weather sounding/obs location for Lexington/Saluda counties to the West of KCAE.  Major temp/precip differences between the two sometimes.

dont feel bad even if you lived at 5500' here in Macon county in far western nc. We are well below average. Not even the highest peaks at 5500' have 10 inches of snow. High heating bills is all you will have.

This page is one of the most used pages on my site. Zoom in to your area and turn on station markers. You can also filter those by elevation

http://www.daculaweather.com/current/misc/google-maps-radar/4_google_radar.php

All the data on the page refreshes automatically, no need to refresh your browser. Also, all of those little station markers have data, try clicking on them!

Yeah big temp swings dealing with being close to the lake, lots of buildings in KCAE proper, etc.

Is there any way you can implement the new EDD from noaa into the site like that?  I think it would be annoying.. but possible.

Alright Michelle, msg sent.  I think I explained that well enough.  Larry helped me figure out the bottom stuff. :P

  That is a pretty image, but I still believe cae area will have that battle line drawn across the middle. Congrats to those to my west and north for any future possibilities  :P

DT been quiet since he called JB an idiot for calling for blizzard conditions in coast in ne.

JB is extremely impressive this year with his accuracy.   Best I've ever seen the man as a whole for the entire USA.  Now if only he was a SE snow weenie; I think we'd all hang on every word he says; lol.
