weatherfide
I'm in. I'm done with this winter. I've got a lot to do between now and next winter and warm weather will help me get it done. Dry and cold is almost as bad as dry and hot. I'll take neither, thank you. I'll place my chips on 2014/2015! Bring on the El Nino!
FLweather
with a southern stream. Miller A Running the coast every week for 35 and rain. Knowing the luck in the SE... you can bet on that. Mine were up about 2-3" before polarvortex hit, they got knocked down pretty hard. I'm thinking alot of the bud swelling has to do with the continued abundant rain Interesting. Yup sure sign of a early spring. But the bud swelling could be assoicated with the amount of rain. Either way... slight warm up and spring growth will come in fast. I say we start a 2014/2015 winter thread! Can't possibly be 4 winters in a row?! Kiss of death!
rduwx
Griteater recognized this upcoming pattern as being cold and dry even when the models where showing storms. It's looking like a great call on grit's part!

packbacker
I say we start a 2014/2015 winter thread! Can't possibly be 4 winters in a row?! Sure it can, just happened, 2005-2008. We had a three year stretch in the 90's like this too, before that you have to go back to the 40's to see a three year stretch under 2". This is for RDU. Always have faith in not seeing snow, if you were in Vegas you would win a lot of money taking the under.
Snowless in Carrollton
Looks like this will be the first time in my lifetime where I've gone 3 straight winters without seeing snow on the ground. We will be closing in on 4 years by December of this year. Is global warning causing this mess or is it just bad luck ? I know this is the Deep South, but in the old days even in a bad winter we would at least get a 5 minute burst of heavy snow or a light dusting on the ground. I imagine way up north close to the arctic you guys fared even better. Not so much. 2007-08 had a couple of very minor events for areas east of Greensboro. A lot was the classic "once the sun came up, temps hit 33 and changed to rain before ending by noon." http://www4.ncsu.edu/~nwsfo/storage/cases/20080117/ http://www4.ncsu.edu/~nwsfo/storage/cases/20080119/

metalicwx366
Lol this is hilarious. In November, you guys were acting like this would be the greatest winter ever because of two snow weak snow events. Then when I said that November snow has no correlation to winter snow, I got jumped on.
timnc910
I wazs at the beach fishing and all of a sudden a flizzard broke out and covered everything in a couple minute but melted away as soon a day break hit.. it was a nice suprise.
Cold Rain
with a southern stream. Miller A Running the coast every week for 35 and rain. Yep. That sounds about right. Why in the world is it so impossible to get Miller As in the winter anymore?
Cold Rain
Rule of thumb, if a model is showing snow or potential for our area, ignore it, and imagine how it will change to benefit the MA and BOS and you would be a genius. We should just quit wasting time chasing clippers. They disappoint almost always at our latitude. It's fun to point out the one or two historical ones that somehow managed to overperform and hope this is one of those times. But usually, they will not trend in the direction we want. We should just quit chasing light snow events. But we won't. We won't, because it's all we got. That's just a sad, sad epilogue to another winter. timnc910
Give me a pattern like 10-11 and I will get excited... heck there is even blocking showing up on the models but with no -nao we won't benefit from it.
FLweather
I know we have the 1/21 threat thread but would it be worth to have an Observation thread. The only thing that is worrisome is the models keep pushing the highest qpf north with each run.

metalicwx366
Hell no^. You alls obs are boring. Here is what we will see tomorrow. "Snow just began here, wasn't expecting it to start snowing this early". "It's nowcasting time! The radar has much more precip than was modeled." It's 29 outside! NWS only had us at 30 at this time. Could have big implications on blah blah blah. And of course the dreaded it's overperforming!!! Because I was supposed to get only 1.0 and I picked up 1.01.
