I am not impressed with this "Arctic Attack" so far.

Yes! Agreed.  I doubt Charlotte gets into single digits tonight.  Cold yes, but historic greatness, no.

Congrats I guess to west of the Apps people.  They're probably going to get decently awesome coldness.  It's a reverse CAD!!!

Ha! That's actually a weird, but great comparison :)

Whatever. I won't post his stuff here anymore. But I don't see the difference in what he does and what others discuss here abotu potential in the pattern thread.

It's not terribly complicated. If you're going to post your thoughts in the pattern thread (not being a met yourself), there's no problem with it. As you mentioned, it's done all the time. If you post quotes off of a free site from a met that are relevant to the pattern, there's no problem with it. As you mentioned, it's done all the time.

A better analogy to your predicament is posting a quote from a buddy at work who said it's going to snow because his knee hurts. "Some guy said the Euro can't be trusted past 84 hours" is generally not a great contribution to the pattern thread.

We all put post stuff that gets moved. It'll be ok. It really will.

Yeah - something "bollocksed" up this vortex for the Eastside folk.

Yeah, I was hoping, and half expecting this thing to trend a little colder as we worked in. You know... the "models always underestimate the magnitude of the cold and the density of airmasses from the arctic" and all that jazz. I guess I should have tempered my expectations when maps of wind chills and low temps stopped getting posted about 36 hours ago or so.

I mean - it's okay to say the models overdid temps. It's still the most impressive cold air intrusion I've seen in 3 years.

All I'm saying is that for me, it isn't as impressive as was discussed and implied. But hey, I can at least temper my concern of sitting in stupid cold darkness with no power :)

Haha! That is true.

I guess you don't work for CNN.  This has been their front page headline all day.

I can say with 100% certainty that I would never work for CNN. Nor Fox News. I would never compromise my principles by working for any such misleading media/propaganda & control machines.

Unless, you know...I needed a job or something.

I never thought people would complain in the same way about how the snow isn't coming when it's knocking on their doorstep that the cold isn't coming. :weenie:

Haha! You know we will complain about anything. :D I wanted to get down to at least 5. We're going to be close but no cigar, probably.

Yall complain about no snow. Yall complain about no cold. What's next? Haha I can't talk. I always complain about underperforming rain and missing summer thunderstorms.

I feel pretty confident that what has been said is nothing more than stated opinions. I've even posted out-right that I do not envy GSP in this situation because you can't truly know how those temps will materialize.

Again - there's nothing wrong with saying the cold for any one area (mine in this case) is less impressive than what was anticipated. That's not complaining. And I'm the last person here to complain about it not being cold. I have been cold since before Thanksgiving. Hell, the kids and me had to wear jackets for a couple of days in August for crying out loud.
