Bevo
Decent snow coming down here. Seems like a high ratio based on volume. Nothing big but very plentiful.
J.C.
Safe to say CAE forecast will bust. I agree unless something changes drastically. The radar echos are beginning to lessen west of here, and the moisture that has made it over us hasn't put a dent in the dew point or lowered the temperature anywhere close to the freezing mark. TWC has lowered CAE to 1"-3" overnight, and if things don't change, even that would be a stretch.
magpiemaniac
RAH cracks me up. I wonder if they have an obundsman on staff to remind them that there are counties west of Orange.
Cold Rain
We should do an over/under on how long it takes him to crack... I got the under. It's a snow sky now. Shouldn't be much longer to see some flakage.
Winterhawk
Now that the sun angle is much better it's sticking to the roads in the neighborhood.. I just wanted to use that piece of crap saying once in my life..
CaryWx
Will we snow in the triangle before the sun sets though?

I will say I think their call of 1-2 for the triad looks dead on. Radar just isn't filling in like it needs to.
Bevo
Wouldn't the CAE FA be getting in on the coastal moisture once it forms? I didn't think CAE was relying on the bands moving from the SW as much.

Brick Tamland
Really, look at the RAP, the models, the radar, what Robert has said. Think back to Jan 2000. That didn't start until night. This isn't that big but there is plenty of moisture coming and the rates will be high. Should be able to get 6 out of it. Just have to be patient. superjames1992
I really think this morning's virga paid off. The humidity IMBY is at 69% and 22 degrees. Yep. Nice snowfall now! Fine flakes, very beautiful! The roads should turn south shortly as the sun begins to set (the shaded roadways are already covered). I'd think we have at least 0.25" now and are well on our way to 0.50".

superjames1992
I remember all the cliff jumping from Raleigh area weenies before the Boxing Day Snowstorm when Raleigh was in the 40s all day while GSO and points west were snowing. Then RDU got pounded overnight and surpassed us all. Be patient...........

NC_WX10
WRAL just brought the 1-4" line very close to RDU, just saying…old map above, new map below. Well that map is already incorrect because parts of Rockingham have 2 inches.
superjames1992
How many more hours do you think we would have? Not sure, but I'd think we're good for 1-3" of snow. Rush Hour is going to be fun, haha.

burgertime
Packbacker is in the running for weenie of the year with the last few posts he's made. Good lord. He went from saying that no snow would ever happen this winter to getting 2 1/2 inches being the biggest bust of all time.

I don't have a problem with their Triad forecast per se. I'd take 2" of snow and cash out considering the circumstances. It's the subtle tones in their Tweets and discussions that a weather event really isn't a weather event unless it affects the state's capital city. For example: https://twitter.com/NWSRaleigh/status/428266753701859328 At 335 pm...snowing now in Goldsboro, Clinton, Roxboro, Greensboro, Winston-Salem, Lexington. #dontpanicitiscoming What do you mean it's coming? It's already here for a significant portion of your forecasting area.

FLO
We are heading for one of the all time worst busts. It will literally be snowing in DC before it's snowing here, well I should say if it snows here. It's trying really hard to not snow in RDU, there is almost a perfect circle around us with a big gaping precip hole coming right for us. Why did we cancel schools? i posted same exact thing ab cae and it got deleted.
