magpiemaniac
SREF gives us a 30-50% chance of a foot of snow. Aim higher. I'll be very, very happy with 5" of snow with temperatures in the teens, though. I honestly don't think I've ever seen a storm like that. I know what you mean. I'm just trying to temper my expectations. A pessimist is never disappointed.
Stovepipe
18z GFS Bufkit Snowfall Figures (Maximum Temperature in Profile Algorithm + Compaction): Atlanta: 6.4" Charlotte: 7.8" Columbia: 8.5" New Orleans: 3.1" Raleigh: 10.7" Freezing rain falls in such cities as Charleston, Savannah, and Tallahassee. It should be noted that the 18z GFS is the probably the most aggressive solution, so we'll have to see what happens in subsequent runs. Hopefully, a nice snowfall will occur. weatherfide
I've seen enough to know, from experience, where this is going. The phase wasn't able to be detected until late in the game. The precip is going to be heavier and for a longer duration. Now, local municipalities are WAY behind the ball. They have less than 48 hours to prepare. This is starting to go from a casual novelty snow to something, very, very serious for this part of the country. I am especially concerned for those getting mostly ice with lows in the teens and potential power outages AND 8" to 15" of snow on the roads. CandymanColumbusGA
LOL! And the northwest trend is trying to screw me out of lots snow again. *le sigh...* Congrats to all the big winners on the 18Z GFS! haha!

WeatherNC
So, "...to my untrained eye..." is quickly becoming my least-favorite phrase right now. It just gets old. better than "not going to do it this run" sorry Burger
