WeatherFox
00Z GFS not as wet as the 00Z NAM. Low moves off coast south of Long Island but quite a bit to the east.
jm1220
I have a feeling the NAM was a blip....but still 4-8" snow for our area generally The NAM often has overexuberant runs like this-remember what it did prior to the 2/8 storm where it showed 5ft of snow where there was that many inches or less at the end. The GFS however has its problems too, so we'll see what happens. It'll likely come down to the Euro like it always does.

WintersGrasp
The next NAM run I'm sure will look like this GFS run, and the SREF I believe will pull back big time in its next run....euro....we'll see

NortheastPAWx
compare 500mb. that's more important Isn't it a little late for that now? Everything's sampled, and it's just not working out.
jm1220
Hr 57 steady snow. The ratios will have to save us The last few runs seemed to show healthy snowgrowth, so hopefully that can help. We all should be more than happy with a 6" or so event that turns everything into a tundra as temps dive toward 0 on 30mph winds.

jm1220
Isn't it a little late for that now? Everything's sampled, and it's just not working out. The GFS loves to overemphasize the lead wave for some reason in these kind of events and might still be doing it too much. It's likely real at this point but it makes a lot more sense for more development to take place near the main trough. Keep in mind there is single digit air interacting with water in the 40s, with powerful upper air energy coming through. That'll have to have some kind of reaction. WeatherFox
Hr 60 steady snow Light snow developed at 45 hours and looks to be over about six hours past the 60 hour point is my guess.
