stormtrackertf
Round 1 is a complete fail around here, the band is falling apart and I have maybe .5" here on the east side. To be fair DTX only had us down for "less than an inch" tonight, which is probably where just about everyone should finish.
RCNYILWX
Sounds like a bad measurement Might not crack 6 there at that rate. How is that possible when we have this 1200 AM SNOW 3 SW MIDWAY AIRPORT 41.60N 87.77W 01/01/2014 M1.6 INCH COOK IL CO-OP OBSERVER 0.09 LIQUID EQUIVALENT. ORD always has one of the lower S/W ratios...So it's not too surprising. It really varies there because in most cases we have to use what the ASOS AWPAG measures, unless it's so bad we can ask the observer to give us the melted snow measurement from the can. Wish we did that all the time.
Stebo
How could there be a bad measurement with no wind tonight? The ratio makes no sense though. Ratio isn't matching with all surrounding locations, I mean it could be right but it would be very surprising.
janetjanet998
How could there be a bad measurement with no wind tonight? The ratio makes no sense though. it makes even less sense since ORD had 1.0 inch at 6pm so 2 inches with .22 last 6 hrs? 9:1 ratio

RCNYILWX
I've been in Chicago tonight, northwest side near I-90, I'd say around 3" if not a bit more over there. Down by Union Station about the same. Not sure about 1.5". Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk

If there was wind tonight I'd agree, I've suspected under measuring there more than a few times. But without wind, more likely that the ASOS is wrong. I haven't checked reports tonight, anything from the Elk Grove Village CoCoRaHS guys?

Chicago Storm
Makes me a little more skeptical of ORD then, those Elk Grove observers are pretty good. I should note the 3.2" report was via public, the other was CoCoRaHS. But still... Even the Oak Brook co-op observer had 2.1" as of 8:35PM. I should note the 3.2" report was via public, the other was CoCoRaHS. But still... Yeah, some pretty good bands went through there after 9pm... not sure how there was only 3" with 0.3 liquid if the ASOS measured right. Unless the models were totally wrong on the omega being pretty well co located with the DGZ, a 10:1 ratio makes no sense.
The_Global_Warmer
00z models now showing around .30 QPF for Belleville. I expected the vort max to come in stronger and more organized. Belleville is in the county SE of STL. I can't wait. 3-5" day time snow here is rare. On new years watching two pathetic Eastern teams struggle while the 27-7-5 blues are off. The_Global_Warmer
Red Wings pathetic? Your right. My bad. 18-23 in the East is more like mediocre. Since Nicky left they have been mediocre. Seven years counting of their winning percentage dropping from year to year. I thought they would be mediocre faster but Nicky was a God even at 40. Now they are only mediocre because they still have HOF bound ppg players Alfie, Dats, Z, Franzen, Kronwall. Who are 41, 35, 33, 34, 32. Of course I respect the 1991-2011 run. Of course I wish it was my team who was that dominant. Of course I will have no sympathy for Detroit no longer being a cup contender
