Looks like just a shade under 12 inches here in Lindenhurst. Still snowing, but looks like its about to shut off. I'd guess we'll have an even foot when it's all over.

I can't recall being so cold while shoveling. Absolutely frigid out there!

Finished with just about 11" just north of Sunrise by Rt.109

For those of you posting in an observation thread without indicating your location, you do realize that is quite annoying.  Please add your location for future storms.  Thanks!

most people have there location under there name on left side of screen

Amounts appear to be very uniform across the Island, which is a rarity with coastals. Just about everyone reporting between 10-12". Would you call this last band that has lingered across the Island 'sound effect' or 'sound enhanced'?

Upton does and they have a heck of a lot more formal training than me...

Here's a great write-up by respected board member NorthShoreWx on the topic...

Wow, what a nice storm that was overnight. The storm that came closest in my mind to the conditions was March 8, 2005-although that one was out in a few hours.

Huge disparity in storm totals for Nassau County which is to be expected with all the wind and drifting. The highest seems to be Oceanside with 12.5" but I'd say that's a little high. I'd guess about 10" fell here but the wind makes it very hard to measure accurately. Overall, looks like the 8-12" NWS call for the area worked out well.

decided to measure again as i was shoveling... measured an average of 8.0"... seems like an inch and a half added since i last measured, possibly due to the OES bands that moved through... still, my total is less than that of KISP situated 2mi NW of me... they always seem to do that every storm, ugh... lol

10 degrees, S+ at 8:45.  This last band along the north shore has some staying power as we've been in it for nearly an hour.  Wind isn't as strong at the moment, but lots of drifting.  Haven't been out this AM, but looks like an easy 10".  I'll find out if that estimate holds water a bit later.

My casual observation did not bear up to scrutiny with a ruler.  In the open area where I measured most samples were between 7 and 9 inches.  There is a lot of drifting and some bare spots.  My best estimate is 8.5".  Places adjacent to the house had 12" or even 16" next to the car, but those are drifts.
