Eduardo
Looks like just a shade under 12 inches here in Lindenhurst. Still snowing, but looks like its about to shut off. I'd guess we'll have an even foot when it's all over. I can't recall being so cold while shoveling. Absolutely frigid out there!

rgwp96
snow ratios sucked out this way. .52 of precip equaled 5.5 of snow. temps near 10 most of the event. never had good snow growth, no dendrites just tiny flakes. no fluff factor involved at all. Guest Pamela
Amounts appear to be very uniform across the Island, which is a rarity with coastals. Just about everyone reporting between 10-12". Would you call this last band that has lingered across the Island 'sound effect' or 'sound enhanced'? Upton does and they have a heck of a lot more formal training than me... https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=754863011209683&set=a.188187191210604.50415.177148895647767&type=1&relevant_count=1&ref=nf

jm1220
Wow, what a nice storm that was overnight. The storm that came closest in my mind to the conditions was March 8, 2005-although that one was out in a few hours. Huge disparity in storm totals for Nassau County which is to be expected with all the wind and drifting. The highest seems to be Oceanside with 12.5" but I'd say that's a little high. I'd guess about 10" fell here but the wind makes it very hard to measure accurately. Overall, looks like the 8-12" NWS call for the area worked out well. NorthShoreWx
11.25" on south side of the house protected from wind. 13F That would be a drift. The wind blown snow tends to settle out where the wind speed drops, i.e., on the leeward side of the house.

EasternLI
Reported a conservative 12". Pretty sure it was closer to 13, however cannot be certain due to wind. The 13.5 by tim makes sense, being that I'm located on the southern side of Riverhead, not all that far from Eastport
patrick05
decided to measure again as i was shoveling... measured an average of 8.0"... seems like an inch and a half added since i last measured, possibly due to the OES bands that moved through... still, my total is less than that of KISP situated 2mi NW of me... they always seem to do that every storm, ugh... lol
NorthShoreWx
10 degrees, S+ at 8:45. This last band along the north shore has some staying power as we've been in it for nearly an hour. Wind isn't as strong at the moment, but lots of drifting. Haven't been out this AM, but looks like an easy 10". I'll find out if that estimate holds water a bit later. 20140103_082353-se.jpg My casual observation did not bear up to scrutiny with a ruler. In the open area where I measured most samples were between 7 and 9 inches. There is a lot of drifting and some bare spots. My best estimate is 8.5". Places adjacent to the house had 12" or even 16" next to the car, but those are drifts.
jm1220
How much did long beach and woodmere end up getting? I'd estimate about 10 inches here. Apparently there were reports of some flooding in the low lying parts of town-we're still quite vulnerable after Sandy and it was astronomical high tide.
