The short term models look like they really scored on the inverted trough that looks to be setting up now. That's an awesome bonus. And in the back of my mind I figured there was a 1 in 5 chance of that showing up.

The backside of these coastals always carries some surprises... and this inverted trough feature has been hellacious... where do you think we top out? I'd love to crack 10, but think 9 is mighty fine, too...

I hope the LGA observer is awake. They aren't even reporting heavy snow right now.

This is .1 of a mile visibility and easy sn+ criteria.

They had 0.5 mile vis. and light snow earlier... it's 1/8th here, best storm of the year.  We'll be pushing 20" after this storm... pretty amazing start to winter.

Honestly it's impossible to tell here with the way the wind is now. I'm thinking 7" or so now in Long Beach? I'm hoping for 10"-let's hope the inverted trough lives up to it the next few hours.

* TIMING...THE HEAVIEST SNOWFALL WILL BE INTO THE MORNING RUSH

HOUR. THE LOWEST WIND CHILLS AND VISIBILITIES WILL BE THROUGH

AROUND MIDDAY.

* IMPACTS...HEAVY SNOWFALL...AND BLOWING AND DRIFTING OF POWDERY

SNOW...MAINLY THIS MORNING...WILL CREATE DANGEROUS TRAVEL

CONDITIONS AND COULD IMPACT SNOW PLOWING OPERATIONS. WIND CHILLS

BELOW ZERO COULD LEAD TO FROSTBITE OR HYPOTHERMIA FOR ANYONE

EXPOSED TO THE COLD. WIND CHILLS 15 BELOW OR COLDER WILL LEAD TO

AN EVEN MORE RAPID ONSET OF HYPOTHERMIA.

If anyone get stuck outside right now it can really be deadly
