wxmeddler
Is there anyone I should follow on twitter who posts maps and brief commentary like Ryan Maue does but without the anti-GW agenda and attendant political commentary? @polarvortex? needbiggerboat
No twitter, or facebook, for me. Rationale: 1 - Highly introverted, and place extreme value on my privacy 2 - Overall seems like a bad idea. Once you put something out there, it's there. Sometimes we say things, sometimes under the influence of various things, that we might regret after that moment has passed. 3 - Creates more "online personalities" to manage. It's a lot work....we didn't have these demands in the "old days", when we talked to each other face to face and over the telephone.
Ji
I used to go there with my sister and her kids. I always wondered what happened to Chesapeake Bay Seafood house cause the franchise seemed to disappear but always had tons of people at it whenever I went. Maybe needbiggerboat ate too many freebie hushpuppies and fries while sneaking those Crab legs. never understood what happened to them...there was always long lines and no seats available. Maybe the all you can eat made them bankrupt

needbiggerboat
never understood what happened to them...there was always long lines and no seats available. Maybe the all you can eat made them bankrupt Two major things....they were advertising king crab legs but serving opilios, had some PR and ethical issues. Other was the rising obesity rates in the region...many diners would come in and sit for 3-5 hours consuming massive amounts of steamed shrimp and other items...killed the sustainability of the business model. They also encountered a lot of increased fixed costs by needing to widen doorways and passageways for the larger patrons.

nw baltimore wx
never understood what happened to them...there was always long lines and no seats available. Maybe the all you can eat made them bankrupt The prices that they had to charge for the AYCE signature items to make a profit just got too costly. They basically would have had to charge too much. In the early 90's, AYCE crab legs were $24.99 a person, and even then their profit margin was too small.

Not king.

At the Rosslyn Metro stop there is a McD's and on the way home I will buy a cheeseburger from there for the bus ride home or train out west. I pay the price for it when I get home as it doesnt agree me all that well

billg
First job was bussing tables at Fass Brothers Fish House the original AYCE seafood restaurant. Now that was a while ago - Chesapeake came through and put them out of business. I used to take lunch and order AYCE hush puppies which were .15 for employees. Lots of memories at that establishment. Avdave
Ok Joshypoo Haven't touched a cheeseburger from McDonald's since a bad food poisoning episode back in April. Yeah that would do it for me too, Im always wary of McD's but just once in a blue moon, I see it and need to have one. My first gig was breading chicken at chicken plus in jersey. Every Sat morning from 8-3, bread chicken, wash dishes and all that good stuff. I used to hate chicken for years after that.

You probably got it from touching the wrapper. Chemically engineered meat product from sawdust molecules can't harbor bacteria. Especially the pressure treated variety they started using in 06. nj2va
I spent one winter break in college working at Toys R Us, starting the week before Christmas. Following that, I had a new found respect for Toys R Us employees. Then I worked at Barnes and Noble until I graduated from college, which was a lot better. I actually really enjoyed that job sans the customers who were complete pigs and left their garbage from the cafe all over the store.
mdhokie
Downside to cold, broken water pipes. I came home and heard water running down the storm drain. Traced it back to my neighbor's backyard and saw water pouring out of their house near the foundation. They are on a cruise, and I only have their home phone #. Called the water co and they turned it off at the street. Gonna have a fun welcome back present.
