No, haven't bought one. I'd imagine we will before winter is over. Our neighbors are pretty awesome, one has a plow for his tractor. The other has a snowblower, seems the one with the blower is doing all our driveways right now.

I told the hubby we needed to get something, either a plow for our lawn mower or a blower so we can help with snow removal. In the mean time I'll just keep buying the neighbors booze as thanks

Cut through 30 inch snowfalls without a problem.  Driveway is 75 feet long and 30 feet wide.

I'm sitting in a hotel on my second failed furnace gas valve in the last 7 days.  Went back home a few mins ago and the thermostat was at 43.

Looks like we may bust low on max temps again - I'm 3-4 degrees below where we were modeled at this point.

Side roads are worse today than they were yesterday.

Go with the snowblower.  When we left "Shrewsbury City" (previously left Baltimore) to move to the sticks 6 years ago the first thing I bought was a snowblower.  Never had the chance to use it in 08-09 because that winter was lame, but it paid for itself many times over the following years.  Lawn tractor attachments put stress on the transmission of your mower, and if you change mowers and brands in the future you might have to buy new expensive attachments etc. as your old ones won't work.

Thanks for the advice :)

The guys playing in Green Bay are gonna die. I'll probably watch the game just because of the cold.

Yeah that's just gross. I dunno how anyone spends any time outside in that.

Today is pretty nice.

Two observations from the storm so far this morning:

1)  There is a cemetery near my house with a secondary road next to it on the east side.  Where there are gaps in the trees, snow is drifting onto the road.  Being the good Minnesotan I am, I manuevered through without any problem at all in my 2WD Madza3.  Coming back I watched an Explorer and Jeep both go sideways on that section.  People are idiots.

2)  I've watched three different groups of kids come up to the sled hill behind my house.  Unfortunately for them, the big field is aligned with the wind and they have all given up after a minute or two of being pelted with subzero windchills.

Horrible on both fronts.

I marvel at SUV drivers here in the mid-Atlantic.  I pulled a jeep out of a ditch yesterday.  When I asked the guy how he ended up in there, he said something along the lines of, "I dunno I was just cruising along and WHAMO!, I was in the ditch".  Granted, it was on a decent curve on 355 that had blowover snow across it but, c'mon, really?  When I pulled up and offer to pull him out if he had a tow rope, he laughed at me.  Until I popped him out, that is.  An Audi with Bridgestone Blizzaks is like a tank in the snow...

Growing up, a day like today was an invitation to leave the house at 8am and come home at dark.  Wet gloves, blue fingers and frozen toes are a right of passage.  <<begin curmudgeon voice>>  The kids these days...  <<end curmudgeon voice>>

It's teh drivers not the SUVs.  I never missed a day of work because of snow or ice and for many years drove a blazer and explorer.   The 4 wheel drive help pull you and will give you traction but doesn't help if you drive like an idiot.  Then it can actually hurt you.  I used to marvel at how fast some people drove on snow covered roads and still do on wet roads.  Between the uber slow drivers and maniacs it was always and interesting drive in snow.

Agree completely.  I spent some time in Quebec and Winnipeg.  Drivers never had any real problems on snowy or icy roads while driving anything and everything from Explorers to Corollas.  It's definitely the drivers.

2009-2010 was better, IMO. The banter between Eastern and forty south was awesome. Watching those runs come in before each HECS was killer.

That year will be the benchmark probably for the rest of.my time on earth and maybe my kid's too. It was definitely the most fun.

We do well in the face of mediocre winter wx as a group. Basically we make the best of it regardless. Same can't be said for all subforums.

I get teased at times for tracking non events but I'll never stop doing it. I'm sure someone appreciates it. Lol

I'd like to see people from Quebec or Manitoba drive in muggy, 100-degree heat. They'd probably melt on the road and cause huge backups everywhere.

Best car I ever had in the snow was my Subaru Legacy. That thing was like a snow cat. I took it up to New England to go skiing one year. They received three feet of snow over three days (like a foot a day) and each morning the car was covered before we left for the mountain. No problem, just hopped in and off we went.

i thought about getting one because of the awd action.  i actually like the current styling.  looks somewhat sporty for a mid-size sedan.  ended up leasing a wrangler and lovin' the 4x4.
