mattie g
Boss said I can work from home if my trusty Jetta can't make it in (wife's car definitely can). Slicked up all over the place. I have a meeting today, but can call into it. Hmmmm...
North Balti Zen
Roads are...dicey in Balt city. Very slow crawl in on Harford Rd to downtown -- averaging about 20 mph. Slush and snow covered, icy to boot.

mappy
made it to work just fine -- highways are pretty good, city roads are a little slushy but I'm only on them for three blocks before getting to work. I'm one of two people here, good times!
mattie g
Alright...I'm going into work. Should be interesting to see the difference between here and Crystal City.
NattyBo
God it was good to take a real, bonafide Jebwalk last night. I haven't seen Bob Chill's Rockville measurement but here in the southeastern portion I measured 3 and 4 inches in 4 different spots, so I'm going to say 3.5" and be happy. smokeybandit
Roads were fine at 6am between Odenton and Woodlawn. Though I love a day at the office when no one's here. I can actually get work done.
gymengineer
This storm had a much more gentle gradient from here to Boston than some past debacles. Every metro region overlaps with the next one: DC metro: 2-5" Baltimore metro: 4-7" Philly metro: 6-10" NYC metro and rest of SNE: 6-12" Boston metro: 9-15"

nw baltimore wx
A lot of activity this morning at the bird feeder in the back yard. 10 degrees makes everyone hungry. As a side note, I know that there's a photo forum, but maybe we should have a thread here for winter pictures? We've got some awesome photographers in our subforum, and it might be nice to have a place to view them all. I might be able to get a few tips from those that actually know what they're doing. And the only one that I could manage with both in the same frame.

North Balti Zen
Looks like two "bad weather" games for the NFL this weekend on Sunday...the frigid temps in Green Bay, and it looks like maybe a significant snowstorm in Cincy during the 1:00 game. ravensrule
Unreal, they are inside a 72 Degree stadium and the Colts could not even sell out a playoff without corporate help. Smart move leaving Baltimore to get such rabid fan support, what losers: http://espn.go.com/nfl/playoffs/2013/story/_/id/10236672/2013-nfl-playoffs-indianapolis-colts-get-sellout-cincinnati-bengals-green-bay-packers-wait

MN Transplant
Two observations from the storm so far this morning: 1) There is a cemetery near my house with a secondary road next to it on the east side. Where there are gaps in the trees, snow is drifting onto the road. Being the good Minnesotan I am, I manuevered through without any problem at all in my 2WD Madza3. Coming back I watched an Explorer and Jeep both go sideways on that section. People are idiots. 2) I've watched three different groups of kids come up to the sled hill behind my house. Unfortunately for them, the big field is aligned with the wind and they have all given up after a minute or two of being pelted with subzero windchills. I was loling at people in SVUs freaking out this morning on side roads while I'm cruising around in my Mazda3 with no issues. There is being cautious and then there is just being stupid.
