Pretend to fall in. Get thoroughly soaked. Clamber out. Roll in the dry snowpack and let the dry snow draw the water away from your body. Build a fire, dry off your wet clothes and survive. Edit: Make that 11.3 Looks like I hit 9.3 for a low. I woke up at 1:00 or so and it was 9.5. Woke up at 7:30 and it was the same, then dropped to 9.3. Looks like the big three will come in with lows of: BWI: 7 IAD: 9 DCA: A balmy 17 Looking ahead to Monday/Tuesday....I don't think I've ever seen wind chill watches hoisted before. Western MD, parts of WV and Western PA have them for WCs in the -20 to -40 range. And after today's high, International Falls will not reach 0 again until sometime on Thursday. Just missed yesterday's record with a 5 degree low before midnight. Record of 4 from 1971 still stands for the 3rd. The record for 1/7 (Tuesday) is 2 set in 1988. That one is in trouble too. For my station, my low this morning was the 2nd coldest reading in the 8 years I've been here. Had a -5 in Jan 2009 and today beat the 2 degree reading from early March 2007.
