powderfreak
No difference as discussed yeaterday. About the same difference as a July dew point of 61F and a dew point of 58F. One has a six in front of it, the other has a five in front, haha. It's the same reason why retailers put $8 items at $7.99 instead of $8.05, haha. It's all in one's head. Typhoon Tip
Although it's on borrowed time, there is total wall-to-wall sunshine here. It's amazing that there's freezing rain just to our south in CT when we're totally clear. Took note of this myself -- I'm over here in Ayer. But, sun just dimmed significantly ..as I am typing, and sat shows that you go cloud across a very short span of distance. Still .. .with area dps in the teens and temps only 30-35 in this narrow open sky, it's likely to get into the upper 20s for a time when things saturate later. dendrite
no high to hold the cold in? BDR ice causing highways to be shut down I said there would be some ice to start with some in-situ damming. You were calling ice storm and I said "no" to that.

BIsound
Just came up from RI to Hartford. Big temperature changes on RT 2. About in Lebanon, temp dipped to 23 degrees. Light rain was freezing on windshield. Lasted for about 10-15 miles till Cholchester then temp spiked up to 30. Hartford above freezing.

dendrite
NNE valley ice storm is actually what I thought. Well when I think ice storm I think ice storm criteria...and I don't see that happening this go around with no big QB high. The cold will just get eroded from the top-down in addition to the bit of sfc latent heating during the ZR.

GGEM still has an ice storm for NNE valleys, whether it meets criteria is another question.
