All cold and no fake snow makes Scott a dull boy.

Amen! Quite literally, the pattern is getting to me, lol.

We were just joking about how nice a ski day it is out there...because any day this season that you don't need a facemask or poncho is a good day. It's either brutally cold or it rains...but we get a nice nugget today where it's just in the 20s and comfortable ;)

Thanks for this post.

I learned a lot from it.

I should also add that from an upslope snow point of view, having the vertically stacked lows so far north of us, is that it isn't able to wrap maritime moisture into the flow, like the same setup would if those mid level lows were situated southeast more towards northern ME or the general maritime region (which is what I mean when I say "climatologically favored area").

So the prime moisture source will Lake Ontario without much saturated air being infused from the North Atlantic. That leads me to think it's a more localized threat than widespread.

Pf, totally in jest

I think you might be in for a pleasant surprise. But your post makes sense

Hopefully...my operational forecast is for a dusting-2" from 21z Monday through 12z Tuesday...then another D-2" from 12z Tue to 12z Wed. That's a pretty standard flurry/snow shower forecast from me up here. Could easily just be a dusting to an inch, or 3-4" of fluff if we get into a more concentrated lake effect flow.

I wonder how MRG will make it through this, they just got back on their feet again with main mtn skiing.

Huh? Steady freezing rain in that entire area. :axe:

***POCKETS OF LIGHT FREEZING RAIN AND FREEZING DRIZZLE EXPECTED
LATER THIS AFTERNOON/EVENING NORTHWEST OF I-95***

1030 AM UPDATE...DESPITE RADAR ECHOES MOVING ONTO THE SOUTH COAST
OF CT AND RI...HAVE YET TO SEE ANY REPORTS OF PRECIP FROM ASOS
STATIONS IN THESE AREAS. THAT SAID...THERE IS POTENTIAL FOR SOME
POCKETS OF FREEZING RAIN/FREEZING DRIZZLE IN THESE AREAS. GIVEN
THE UNCERTAINTY...HAVE OPTED TO ISSUE A SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT
FOR THIS AREA. THERE IS A WIDE RANGE OF TEMPERATURES ACROSS THE
AREA WITH MID TO UPPER 30S ON THE CAPE AND ISLANDS TO 10 DEGREES
IN SOUTHWESTERN NEW HAMPSHIRE. THE WARMING TEMPERATURES AND THE
RATE OF THIS WARMING WILL PLAY A HUGE ROLE IN WHERE AND WHETHER OR
NOT FREEZING RAIN WILL OCCUR. PRECIP THIS AFTERNOON WILL BE
SCATTERED IN NATURE BEFORE BECOMING MORE WIDESPREAD THIS EVENING
INTO TONIGHT. A CONCERN TODAY WILL BE GIVEN THE PERSISTENTLY COLD
TEMPERATURES OVER THE PAST FEW DAYS...EVEN IF TEMPERATURES GET A
DEGREE OR TWO ABOVE FREEZING...ICE COULD STILL FORM ON THE VERY
COLD GROUND.
