Ian
I don't trust the RAP. Gald to see it wet but that doesn't make me any more confident about the forecast. If the euro came in with a rap solution, then maybe I'd start getting stoked. RAP/HRRR has some value especially shorter term but they are like the NAM on steroids when it comes to spitting out all sorts of random solutions that don't verify. Bob Chill
I don't trust the RAP. Gald to see it wet but that doesn't make me any more confident about the forecast. If the euro came in with a rap solution, then maybe I'd start getting stoked. Neither do I. I just like seeing the pivot. Precip could be stubborn pulling out from the cities east. Hard to say how much falls. Rap shows .4+ over the cities. Definitely an outlier.

das
I thought the camera was broken. Just white. Give it a few. It auto-pans around every 60 seconds or so. Some of the shots you can see some details.
nj2va
Pouring snow up at Snowshoe right now. http://www.snowshoemtn.com/live-cams.aspx Wow, it would have been great to be able to stay there today. wxdude64
I'm at a 50/50 rain/sleet mix here now, no more flakes. What accumulation on decks/elevated I had has started to melt, but hey, this a bonus in my book, expecting nothing until sunset anyway. 34.2/28.
dtk
RAP/HRRR has some value especially shorter term but they are like the NAM on steroids when it comes to spitting out all sorts of random solutions that don't verify. Which is why it is better to treat it like a time-lagged ensemble versus individual deterministic runs. I know people would like to infer trends since it is run hourly, but I'm not sure how useful it is in that regard.

nflwxman
This is probably a very good sign for the DCA folks. Precip has started here in the form of SNOW in Charlottesville. Completely unexpected. It's wet snow, but it's clear the models are overdoing the sfc temps and perhaps the temps aloft.
Bob Chill
Euro looks pretty nice... how are the temps? Warmer than what is actually going on. Way too far N with the 35 line. I think we're going to all be pretty happy tonight all things considered.
WinterWxLuvr
I'll say this about the RAP. The times I've seen it most accurate is when it has a big change from one hour to the next. It's like it catches on to something. Hopefully it will be good for you guys.
