Fickle Heights
The WL COOP does have an hourly sensor, but it doesn't report live. I guess we'll get some idea after the fact. What a shame though. Edit: The weather sensor at Purdue is reporting again too. Down to 6.1 degrees. weather.eaps.purdue.edu

Geos
Geos, what do you mean anti drift system? Wanna lend it out? Ha. A couple pages back I posted a few pictures of what I did along my driveway. I shoveled two paths to create a 3 ridge system to help deflect the wind and any snow blowing across the surface away from the driveway. Before on a night like this it would just drift across half way or even more.

cyclone77
Wow MLI gusting to 44mph with a temp at -5 as of 10pm. Brutal. Some of the towns around here have police not letting anyone leave town I guess. Not sure if that applies here or not.
Chicago WX
3.0º here right before midnight. Which is fairly impressive for my warm biased thermometer. LAF would probably be 0º or 1º if it was alive. Time for bed...it's been a long week or so of tracking weather.

That's incredible. Dropped 3 degrees since 10:30. Down to -10 and steadily falling. MLI at -9. Cheap midnight high is likely to be -10 or -11. EDIT: See that Hawkeye has a wind chill of -40. Chicago Storm
Down to -2 at ORD. Let the extended period of sub-zero temps begin. And since this will be the warmest temp of the day for the 6th... The high temp of -3 for the day will break the record low max temp of -1 (1912). Edit: -3 will be the high temp.
cyclone77
-11 at midnight here, which more than likely will be the high for the day. MLI was -9 just before midnight. Temp decline here has slowed a bit recently, as the coldest of the 850s has pretty much made it in. Looking upstream it looks like the temp decline also slowed up quite a bit once the coldest 850s moved in. Strongest CAA is now east of here.
