Although the midnight high is a factor tomorrow, the daytime cold will be about as impressive as it gets.  Here's a list of coldest 12 pm and 3 pm temps that I could find for LAF since 1973.  Unfortunately I don't have hourly data before that year.

I came up with this list based on days with lowest daily maxes so there's a chance that something could've slipped through the cracks if there was an early or late high.

12 pm:

-18F:  1/20/1985

-14F:  1/16/1977

-14F:  1/10/1982

-14F:  12/24/1983

-14F:  1/18/1994

3 pm:

-14F:  1/20/1985

-12F:  1/16/1977

-12F:  12/24/1983

-12F:  1/18/1994

-11F:  1/10/1982

IF MAV is correct, we'll be flirting with the coldest 12 pm temp and the coldest 3 pm temp will be broken.  But MET has been warmer so we'll see.

Very treacherous conditions being reported in Kane County. Large areas where whiteout conditions are occurring. - Kane County Sherif's Dept.

Advising against travel due to the high risk of getting stuck or driving off the road.

Who will have the coldest wind chill out of this event? You think someone hits a -70 to -80 wind chill? A Met. on the weather channel was talking about this cold blast and that on the planet of Mars temperatures are around -40 to -50 Fahrenheit. Some places in the northern plains will be experiencing weather like that on Mars. Thought it was pretty cool.

Trending downward. LAF at 13º at 9:00pm. I notice there are no wind speeds being recorded now...so hopefully that's not a sign that LAF is ready to totally crap out. Only two degree drop from last hour is dubious as well.

Somebody must have took the anemometer tower out with a snow plow.

FWIW, down to 11 on my station. Still falling but has slowed since the front past.

Not looking good for KLAF. It's reporting a battery status failure.
