WxSouth just said on facebook that the models are basicaly wrong and there could still be a big storm next weekend into next Monday.

Exactly, it is still near 70 in ATL currently, did the models predict this? Welcome back ridge, not, I actually got hot today.  Pretty bad when ATL is 16 degrees warmer than Brownsville, TX.

This map is textbook look for triad winter weather. You honestly can't draw it up better unless you spin up the lp's a little tighter and deeper.

Only thing I would change would be drop the HP's about 100 miles south  :snowing:

Oh, and instead of it being 150 hours out, it would be 24 hours out.

first and final call : I'm forecasting 8 inches of snow with half inch of sleet and .13 freezing rain for Downslope City NC next Fri / Sat.

And, yeah, that 18z GFS surface map doesn't look half-bad, IMO...  Decent CAD setup.  We'll see what happens.  Of course, the 00z GFS will spit out a brand new, potentially completely different solution here in a little over an hour.

I was thinking the same thing. That map is a perfect example of a classic cold air damming event. It will boil down to the temps in the source region and timing of the precip. If the precip gets in here early, winter weather is a given.

We need these NE storms this week to over perform, a big snowpack will definitely help.

I figured why wait on the nws, Robert, Allan, fish,JB,DT, Austin, Laney,Van, wilkesborodude and Glen Burns. Just put it out there.
