SnowNiner
Yeah, but he didn't say where that big storm could be? My guess is NE Robert likes to discuss the could be's the possibilities, and potentials.....but doesn't really get into probabilities. I don't read too much into his posts like that anymore. max100
WxSouth just said on facebook that the models are basicaly wrong and there could still be a big storm next weekend into next Monday. Exactly, it is still near 70 in ATL currently, did the models predict this? Welcome back ridge, not, I actually got hot today. Pretty bad when ATL is 16 degrees warmer than Brownsville, TX. Snowless in Carrollton
Is the cold air ever going to make it to GA? I'm not seeing any highs below 50 the next 7 days.
Tacoma
things aren't looking good for a winter storm when things are this quiet, unless its the calm before the storm.

Tacoma
Well, the Super Bowl is on. Yep I love watching a good game this game was over a long time ago. I didn't care who won I wanted to see a great game and its far from that is the only reason I'm not watching it now.
CAD_Wedge_NC
Believe it or not, I sort of like the 18z GFS with its' idea of more suppression. This thing can't be written off just yet. The modeled high is much stronger than in earlier runs. If we see that same set-up come verification time, it will most likely be cold enough for the CAD areas. Cold Rain
Yeah, I know there's a conversation going on about the big game somewhere. Oh yeah, it's the Banter thread. Come on over, guys.
packbacker
One thing we need to start rooting for is a 1040+ HP, the 1030'ish ain't going to get it done. The 18z OP GFS is showing right at 1040, need that to stay 1040.

You honestly can't draw it up better unless you spin up the lp's a little tighter and deeper.

Only thing I would change would be drop the HP's about 100 miles south Oh, and instead of it being 150 hours out, it would be 24 hours out. And, yeah, that 18z GFS surface map doesn't look half-bad, IMO... Decent CAD setup. We'll see what happens. Of course, the 00z GFS will spit out a brand new, potentially completely different solution here in a little over an hour.

It will boil down to the temps in the source region and timing of the precip. If the precip gets in here early, winter weather is a given.

We need these NE storms this week to over perform, a big snowpack will definitely help.

packbacker
0z definitely different, much weaker than the crazy amped up 12z/18z runs, but still a nice and strong h5 low coming east. If this doesn't show at least something a little weenish than we don't have a chance. Out to 144.
