weathafella
Amazingly consistent guidance around a relatively small cluster now for 2 days.
RUNNAWAYICEBERG
deff an eastern zone special. sure most do well, but cf has been hinted at setting up in BOS for a couple runs now. lets see if it holds serve as we get threw NYE.

ORH_wxman
GGEM is another eastern NE jackpot like the GFS. A lot of guidance is loving that area right now...the combo of the CF enhancement and inverted trough hanging back as the low exits is good for them. CoastalWx
GEFS in the SE camp too it seems. Despite the track, monster circulation and displaced comma head help out big time.

ORH_wxman
What is the upside here....8-12"ish? If everything goes right, there could be some 12"+...but I wouldn't expect it to be widespread at this point...still early to be discussing amounts as anything other than speculation. We'll see if it changes as we get closer. Sometimes the QPF can be underdone when there is good moisture running up over arctic domes.

CoastalWx
In just looking at the ensemble height differences, the disturbance is a bit weaker with a better kicker behind it. So result it a less amped up run. It still could come back NW as we've seen many times solutions on the GFS or any model for that matter come NW...but with the pattern the way it is..it can only come so far. CoastalWx
QPF queens have to realize that this will be an efficient snow producer if it works out.

ORH_wxman
QPF queens have to realize that this will be an efficient snow producer if it works out. Recall how much qpf increased too in the final 48 hours in the 12/14-15 event with the southern moisture running up into it (the cold dome)...we essentially have the same thing with eastern gulf moisture running up the gulf stream and then coming up north into NE over the top of the arctic dome. Its actually fun to watch it on the Euro charts looping them.

Check out some of those 18z GEFS members (I suppose 00z might be in already). They were toying around with that.

CoastalWx
well if thats the case i should be looking at 1-2' Well not that much...but that is more for the areas away from SNE. I know people love to look at QPF and ignore what we say...but those will be sick ratios in some areas NW.

SnowGoose69
I thought the GFS was whacky showing that long duration band of snow behind the low dragging back down towards NYC but the GEM shows the same signal
