You can get a good idea of the sharp cutoff of the rain/snow line on the 9z sref....S NH basically has the same probability (at least very similar) of 1" vs. 4". Seems like wherever that line is...will go from not much to a solid 3-5" SF relatively quickly.

Down here it's just winners and losers and don't

Get caught on the wrong side of that line

This storm could have a significant impact on electrical distribution in portions of Maine.  Yesterday I drove from Augusta to Raymond.  There is a cut-off south of Lewiston where there is only snow on trees.  From Lewiston to Augusta there is serious icing on trees with some folks just getting power back last night.  The heavy band of icing extends east from Augusta to Lincolnville, across Penobscot Bay and then down east along the coast.  Many big trees are already at max.  No sun up here today to help with the ice.

Good luck guys, the poster PWM always underplays things , he lives on the coast. I have friends in the interior and they just got power back and are worried, zero melting today too..

Only half as thick ice here in the Farmington area, but that would be enough to turn a wet snow event into a real tree-wrecker.  Hoping for fluff.  (Like the 30:1 flurry that puffed 0.6" here and over an inch in Temple, 2 towns west, about noon yesterday.  Gorgous dendrites, though I saw them only on Facebook as AUG got nada.)

06 gfs super frigid next week.  FVE shown with -18/-46 on Thursday; if that verified, it would easily be the coldest daily mean I've ever seen for New England.  (non-MWN division)

Nice set of 12Z runs here so far. Unfortunately with much of SNE out of the game this thread is on life support.

lol... J.Spin commented on that in the NNE thread to some effect that model analysis has fallen off a cliff with this one.

Its almost like we should pack up our toys and head to the NNE thread.

Anway, here's the latest 12z BTV4 QPF for the system... looks juicy but usually will over-do the orographics to some extent.  I think the placement of QPF looks fine though.  Should be a picturesque wet snowfall for many in CNE/NNE...I especially like the Sunday River area back through the Whites and to the Killington area east of RUT.  The higher terrain in that band will likely come close to jackpotting, but if a little further south of that line sees all snow, I'd say Lewiston to Dendrite to Southern VT takes the jackpot prize.

LOL--the silence is horrible for me.  At least you guys know you're getting snow.  I need the anlaysis, man (I'm sounding like Cheech Marin as I type that).

Nice hit for the 8 or 9 of us......... :)

Didn't you see the poll?  NH/VT and Interior Maine rule this board.  :)
