hm8
As long as not too much compaction occurs AA could go the whole month of January with a snowdepth >= 5". To put that in perspective, the average is 25 days for the entire season, which has already been beat,

Chicago Storm
January '14 is now the 4th snowiest on record for Chicago. In addition to the above, it's now the 7th snowiest overall month on record. Snowiest months: 1. 42.5" - Jan 1918 2. 40.4" - Jan 1979 3. 33.3" - Dec 1951 4. 32.2" - Jan 1978 5. 31.4" - Dec 1978 6. 30.9" - Dec 2000 7. 29.7" - Jan 2014 8. 29.6" - Jan 1999 9. 29.0" - Feb 2011 10. 28.9" - Jan 1967

Toledo has already cemented themselves at #1, and Detroit and Chicago both should do AT WORST top 5. The only way either of them finish at #5 is if the models all fail miserably these last 10 days of the month. Realistically, they both should finish at least #3. When you are talking one of the snowiest months (any month, not just January) for 3 seperate cities that all have records to the 1880s...thats mega impressive. Geos
Definitely a good chance to bump up to #3 place. Pretty cool that ORD is only 0.1" under what I've gotten for the seasonal tally to date.
ukrocks
Picked up about 3 inches of snow today. Hoping to keep the snow pack around for a while and I think there's a good chance we will. Looks like we won't hit 40 again for at least the next 10 days perhaps even longer.
IWXwx
A little OT, but what I think is an interesting side note to the cold. I have a friend who lives up by the IN/MI state line that loves to ice fish. He has complained for the past couple of years that he couldn't keep long periods of safe ice. This year he quit ice fishing because he's tired of hand auguring holes through 12 - 16" of ice. lol

hawkeye_wx
Getting some pretty wild weather over here. For the last 40 minutes we have alternated between sunshine and heavy snow squalls.
