WeatherFox
Time to nowcast and look at the radar and surface ground reports. I would not get too excited for scattered snow showers. And, even if someone was lucky for a snow squall.. it would likely only be dusting. http://www.meteo.psu.edu/~fxg1/WXTYPE/loop25ne.html

ag3
It's not going to rain Alex I think some of the area begins as rain or a mix.

Metsfan
I think some of the area begins as rain or a mix. I agree it might start out as a mix as current temps are in the upper 30s, but with dews in the 20s, and the possibility of moderate precip rates temps will start to fall, and change any mix to snow. Not expecting much, but if we get a burst of heavy snow I could see up to a quarter to a half inch of accumulation.

Precip should be entering NW NJ by 4:45 or so Extrapolate that band ESE and you have your first zone...
rcad1
Looks to my untrained eyes that most of the snow is going to be just north of NYC and Western LI.. At least that's what it looks like on radar right now

Not to nitpick, but temps aren't near 40. I'm at 34.7 in Lyndhurst and it's almost certainly a degree or 2 cooler where you are.
