First up, snowiest starts to a season for Indianapolis. 2013 ranks as the 14th best start on record for all years/seasons through December 16 (1884-present). That is 0.4" behind the pace of last winter through Jan 2, believe it or not. Of course despite the overall torch last December, Indy piled up 14.8" in the last 12 days of that month. I'm not seeing any additional real snow in the next week or two, outside a few very minor snowfalls. Hopefully Feb will deliver and take this met winter into the top 10. Just 5.4" away from a tie for 10th... Well, except for January 1977...the only month to never record a temperature higher than 32º (technically, 31º was the highest that month).
