blackngoldrules
Yes!!! Can't believe weather.com still going with 1-3.....no clue what models they use to make their forecasts.... They're strange with their forecasts. A lot of the time they give amounts that are way too high as well. NWS is saying 1-2 tomorrow for our area during the day, so I'm guessing we might be closer to 2-4 with our overall total when it's all said and done. They say south of I-70 is 2-4, but we're probably close enough to that where we will either be 2-4 or the lower end of the 3-5. Imagine how cold we will be early next week if we have a snowpack for it. Gonna be rough on our cars and our heating bills.
ChalkHillSnowNut
I just hope we can squeeze out some frozen precip Sunday-Monday.....
Rdd9108
I have read that some people think that this storm sunday/monday could come further east because of the progressive pattern and the polar vortex coming down south. Its a battle of the gfs and ecmwf. Gonna be a cold week next week regardless.
north pgh
Glad to be back home and on the computer tracking the snow and cold. I had my share of driving in the snow and not fun. (Through Erie twice during Lake effect.) Erie this past and next week would be a great place to be staying.
ChalkHillSnowNut
Erie is awesome in winter-they don't even bother salting but everything is pretty flat so that helps....just a pretty place in winter
CoraopolisWx
Based on model and other analysis, our general 2-5" seems pretty good. What I'm having diffuculty with is the amounts for new york and new england. I've seen a large area of 12-18" forecasted, with 8-12" outside of that. Even with high ratios and duration, I just don't see where the support for this is. Mabey in far SE New England, someone gets 12", outside of there 8" max. blackngoldrules
I'm feeling good about 3-5". No underachiever! For a change, we have a high pressure supplying some cold air into this, so for a change we don't have to worry about mixing or a changeover to ruin this one for us. The previous storms were slop or just about all rain for us folks south of Pittsburgh.
RitualOfTheTrout
I'm feeling good about 3-5". No underachiever! I agree. Its nice to see a storm coming in that we don't have temperature issues to worry about. Add to that the whole area will see a decent accumulation as well. The Sunday-Monday storm is still showing up albeit not a monster like the Euro showed a few days ago. I'd like to see it a little further SE on the GFS than it currently is though. The 0z run would give us the usually temp issues again. Hopefully, it goes back the other direction for that one. Then the arctic express follows. Burghblizz
That cold early next week means business. Dont know if it will happen, but seeing -15 below on couple models possible. ChalkHillSnowNut
Looks like most of the precip will miss southern allegheny county unfortunately.....at least the latest radar soundings seem that way....I hope it pushes due east only soon! Lol Not to worry. Yes this initial batch may but it is only putting down a dusting here. Looking at the HRR radar model it looks as if from around 11:00 or so until late afternoon we should all have a good burst of moderate snow if it holds true. Yeah, that's about all we got in Bethel from the brief period of snow that moved through a little bit ago. Hopefully, that HRR model is right and we'll all get in on the action in a couple of hours. Lol It is pretty frustrating to look at the radar right now and see a mini dry slot moving right over southern Allegheny. Seems like we can't get a break here sometimes. Hopefully, it'll all fill in a couple of hours from now.

Yea exactly....we always seem to be either in the dry slot or affected by the warm tongue (Sunday eve again on that one)....you need almost a perfect setup to get anything over 4" around here.....we'll see what happens from 11-3 today......... lwg8tr0514
Hahaha that radar looks horrible. Looks like we may not get much snow unless it fills in soon. Seeing the radar makes me think of this old gem again...... here I sit witty upon my porch, clear, sunny, and 50-resembles a torch.. once a pimp with model lust, turned to dunce with a forecast bust... damned by the Euro, occasionally the NAM, constantly abused and even rammed... most hail the GFS, some say the UKIE, but only bums who like big piles of rookie... CMC burns like a stinging pee fem a contracted STD from the DMV.... this winter is so bad I wouldn't mind being drafted, anything is better than being maimed, beaten and shafted! Yea exactly....we always seem to be either in the dry slot or affected by the warm tongue (Sunday eve again on that one)....you need almost a perfect setup to get anything over 4" around here.....we'll see what happens from 11-3 today......... Rdd9108
At this point Ill be shocked to see 2 inches. Maybe I am reading the radar wrong but looks like we get shafted. Atleast I wont have trouble driving around today.

Atleast I wont have trouble driving around today. I think we will be alright snow wise. To early to call bust. The norhtern tier was always progged to get a longer duration snow fall, hence the higher totals up that way. As the boundry sags south with developing storm so will the precip.
