Burghblizz
PIT NWS - 3.5" with 1.3" in the last 45 minutes. I'm at about 3" with primarily sleet. Man, if we only can hold on a few more hours....

KPITSnow
Snow looks done where I am at. Still at 27 degrees. Doubt we see much plain rain at this point.
SteelCity08
Little bit of snow mixing in here. About 3 inches. Still interested to see what happens when this slug of heavier stuff moves in to our west. I think thats whats been helping those in the panhandle stay all snow. KPITSnow
Nasty out there. 3 or 4 inches of snow, then an inch of sleet on top, and now a glaze starting to form. I'm wondering if my car will be able to be moved tomorrow? Btw, for those of you that thought this was going to be mostly rain pittsburgh south, still sitting at 27 at 3 am, and likely if there is a changeover it won't be until precip starts to wind down. Rolling Snowed
I have about 2" of snow and sleet then at least of 0.10-.0.15 ice accrual on top of that. My power has been flickering on and off the last 20 minutes or so. Hovering at 31 degrees...20 miles south of Pittsburgh. As in terms of treacherous travel, this is about as bad as it gets. psunate1977
Got about an 1" of snow, but it's been plain rain now. Not sure how long it's been raining. Believe turnpike may have been cutoff. Hit to trek to State College this morning. Going to be a fun ride.

So looks like a bust on the cold side, the torrential rains and heavy ice never came, this was mostly a snow event for a majority of the Pittsburgh metro area. Maybe a lesson for the Eeyores here so quick to bellyache about .."Oh it always rains here, it always does" Well, it pretty much played out as expected in my area. It snowed here for about 2 1/2 hours and then it was freezing rain the rest of the night. I picked up about 1.5" of snow and maybe close to .25" of ice. A lot of ice on my vehicle this morning, I know that. Certainly not a crippling ice storm by any means but very disruptive for sure. North of Pittsburgh certainly got mostly snow but the warm tongue hit me after just a couple of hours like it usually does with storms like this. Digger
Wife just got home from her commute from up north. She picked up probably a tenth of an inch of ice, over the whole car, on the way. blackngoldrules
Well, looking ahead to the weekend, the next one doesn't look all that impressive now. And that's not the last of this winter nonsense, a lot more storm to go! Joe Bastardi @BigJoeBastardi My advice is to go back and look at past set ups with ridges off the se US and the troughs migrating under confluence to east coast. This is the 2cnd big one in 3 days for goodness sakes, and so why quit on 3rd before game starts

CoraopolisWx
Not a bad event. Enough snow to help with traction Enough ice to preserve the pack, and enough warm air to help with the roads. It was a little bit better than i thought.

Maybe a lesson for the Eeyores here so quick to bellyache about .."Oh it always rains here, it always does" No one claimed this was going to be a rain storm. Most regulars who understand our area knew we would have trouble remaining snow even when some models were hinting at that, due to WTOD. We knew the snow would transition to sleet/mix, freezing rain and all rain which is what happened. It was never about surface temps with this storm, so despite most places staying below freezing for most of the storm, no one had all snow. As a matter of fact the majority of the store was not mostly snow. Most places in WPA had 2-5 hrs of all snow. So the majority of the storm was something other than snow. And the snow played out as expected, less to the south of Pgh and more to the north.
RitualOfTheTrout
Measured 3.5 of snow ice and sleet on the picnic table this morning. I have to assume it was at least between 4 -5 inches before the compaction from the zr and sleet. Id say somewhere between .1 and .2 ice. It looks like they plowed my road after the majority of the snow and sleet, but haven't been back since, its a sheet of ice.

It was a little bit better than i thought. I agree, I think the front end thump of snow over performed for many. In additon to that it seems the warm air was slower coming up so we got more frozen precip than usual in these setups. Temperature is just warm enough to make chipping the ice of easy. I think temps are going to drop at some point during the day so if you haven't already I'd get your veheciles dug out before this turns into cement. Yeah, seems a bit over zealous, but there is still some chance the storm ends up being something more than whats currently modeled. That one run, maybe it was 12z GFS monday was pretty epic, honestly there was probably nowhere to do but down from that lol.
