north pgh
I am at least enjoying being able to go outside for periods of time and not freeze my @$$ off. I would be happy with one 6-12 inch snow and then Spring to be honest with you.
RitualOfTheTrout
Pretty ugly track for the Wednesday storm on 12Z GFS and CMC. Verbatim its a brief mix then over to rain. GFS showing nearly 1.75 qpf, what a waste if it works out that way. Who knows, this weekend storm is so far NW now its little more than a fropa, if we are going to get driving rain, I'd rather the same thing happen for mid week not, that mother nature cares what I want. Evilpens64
I agree but with those teleconnections its harder for us not to get a cutter. I listen to his videos to see his thoughts. I like Bernie Rayno a lot better, when it comes to winter he knows what is going on. Most models Have SUCKED this winter & I am not pissed about because I live in West Newton & if it is close to snow/rain we Get Rain So I am prepared for a Slopstorm to a ton of rain. You got to quit living & Dy ing with each model run, You'll lose your Mind ! haha
colonel717
Joe Bastardi @BigJoeBastardi 4hLike current storm that is going up well west of where it looked like it would, System Mon should be north of US models. wont catch on till Sat Hanging my hat on this Monday storm as it fits our winter to date. Nothing substantial but 1-3 type of storm to add to our totals.
Rdd9108
Honestly Im sick of winter. Sure we got a deal of snow so far, but we haven't seen anything really notable to track and hit us. What did it for me was the arctic outbreaks, outside feels great now.

Yeah, I can remember some past storms when I lived there where that warm tongue would just take over and ruin things. Now, I live in Bethel Park where the warm tongue takes over and ruins things. jwilson
All I can think of with the coming week is, "if ifs and buts were candy and nuts, we'd all have a Merry Christmas." In other words, whenever the time comes for a storm and there are a lot of IFS (conditionals), I greatly lean on the side of pessimism. At this moment, there just isn't a whole lot going for us in terms of cold air availability or blocking. Almost none of the teleconnections are in an ideal state. Yes storms can still provide, but when these thread-the-needle events come, it is more likely we get nothing than something. I'd say out of all three events this week, our best chance is next weekend, but even that remains a big "if." We won't know much until the midweek storm moves on, though, so it's best to get away from the models for a while and just "hurry up and wait." as it were. Mailman
18z gfs a tick north for Monday. Unfortunately, not enough north to do us any good. Still plenty of time left, of course.
Rdd9108
So where do people get their info from. My moms on the phone with my aunt and she asks if we are getting a major snow storm next. My aunt heard from two people we are supposed to get a huge snow storm. I hope people like ice/rain.

blackngoldrules
Definitely DO NOT want Ice Storm None of us do, but we may end up in a pattern where we see ice to rain with each system as they cut to our west. This could potentially be more of a wet February than a white one for this area. I say potentially of course because things can change. Just looking at how things are setting up right now. Rdd9108
Good morning everyone. Before I head to work I just want to comment on how every trend we would want to avoid ice is working for us. Lets hope it continues, the last thing anyone of us want is ice. Anyway don't have time to post the maps but even the gfs came southeast for tuesdays storm. Rdd9108
This thing is still wobbling for the tuesday/ wed event. Im hoping the Euro comes south. An ice storm would cause some major problems.
colonel717
I am not buying a large scale ice storm. That is so rare in our area. I think temps will be so close to 32 that with the heavy rain there would not be much ice forming. Most guidance has a transfer happening once the low rides up into SWPA. Gotta hope for a transfer much further south in WV.
Evilpens64
quite Frankly I think the models don't have a clue when to transfer happens transfers rarely in SW Pa. or Pa. in general. Usually the farthest north they get is WVA
