That batch to our south looks like it'll stay south of 78 in NJ and maybe hit Long Island. I'm seeing several reports of freezing rain in SE PA and southern NJ. Pretty sure that was unexpected.

I never expected much from this. The 3-6 calls were out of line, imo

 

They were not bad before the 2nd vort ruined the setup, prior to that the first one was going to do a decent job for us but the 2nd one coming in sort of stole some of the thunder for the first...the 2nd one all by itseld would have produced a very big system, we'd not have gotten much vs. SNE but maybe a 4-8 inch type deal.

This system is a disorganized sloppy mess. This one might do better for eastern New England where it's colder and the pieces of it may become more organized. Boston's latitude/longitude advantage on us will likely come in handy for them.

 

Boston was always to do better than us from this - the system is still blossoming - note the expanding baroclinic leaf to the NW of falling pressure off the NJ coast.
