REDMK6GLI
When I think of Christmas, I think of snow and cold, not warm and rainy. Yes I know but I am just saying how the previous GFS run showed an icestorm and also the Euro run showed something similiar until the recent runs. I got you on this one ant i support your weenie tendencies lol. But totally agree with what christmas week should be like
SnoSki14
What's the problem, it looks below normal for Xmas. The torch happens a couple of days before.
REDMK6GLI
What's the problem, it looks below normal for Xmas. The torch happens a couple of days before. Its all in good fun right now. These few small snow events have really bought the weenie out in some of us lol. Think the -EPO relaxation is almost set in stone. However, im more interested in what happens when it eventually reloads and whether or not we can get some cooperation from the PNA and NAO ( as unlikely as that looks right now looking at current 15 day forecast progs )
Brian5671
all winters feature warmups from time to time-even 95-96 and 02-03 had their share of torches...but does appear to be a 2-3 day blowtorch incoming based on recent trends and model runs
KEITH L.I
snow on Christmas eve or Christmas day in NYC..lets see I started remembering weather...accumulating snow..more than an inch.. .Christmas eve 1966.,.Christmas night 1969, Christmas day 1975,Christmas night 1976,Christmas night 1993,Christmas day 2002..that's it folks..it hardly ever snows on Christmas eve or Christmas day..6 times in 50 years lol.a very unwhite Christmas is very typical for this area

Im going to say it wont suprise me if january took a break overall. Once a pretty big scale pattern change happens (-EPO) finally goes nuetral after being the main player thus far i think maybe 7-14 days into january we may see it come back. I also want to see where the MJO and NAO head as well. Latest EPO forecast shows that once it goes positive/nuetral for a bit looks like it will take some time to reload with arctic and not pacific air

Storm At Sea
Looks like both the GFS (especially the 18z) and the Euro want to string out pieces of energy...heavy rain and some mixed precip well west of East Coast...front settles south and a new piece of energy rides up and re-develops...Merry Christmas snow...in fact, I think this is especially something to watch as northern stream energy looms and if that were to get involved, we'd have a serious storm on our hands. I actually like the looks much more. Euro not as aggressive at this point, but has SLP along NC (heading out to sea).

That's very 1993-1994 esque, heavy rain and torching in the 60's to cold and snow a la 18z gfs.
Storm At Sea
Yes; though, on 18z GFS, it's less of an overrunning event and more of a developing Miller A with subtle hints of a deformation band doing its dirty work on Christmas Eve.
