tnweathernut
The GFS at 0z is so much faster with low development than the Euro. Over a day faster, must be keying on a different piece of energy. Would be awesome if a weak vort could ride out ahead of the bigger system and drop the boundry for that system a bit further south and east. I am sure that's just me dreaming, but I wonder if it could happen.
tnweathernut
I guess everyone is out at a party or something, lol. The 0z GFS advertises VERY cold air for TN. In fact, surface temps hover around 10F and below for around 40 straight hours. Furthermore, it has most of TN below freezing from hour 126-216 (90 straight hours). John1122
The GFS was advertising this cold at 312-384 days ago. It's been pretty consistent in delivering it.
John1122
96 hours tonight on the 00z Euro is very similar to the 120 hour panel on the 00z Euro from last night.

tnweathernut
Looks like it easily cuts through eastern AR or western TN...heading NE.. It's probably hoping against hope that we can get a shift large enough to help parts of middle and east TN. John1122
Yep, it's another "Year of the Cutter." like when the midwest set snowfall records a few years ago. The GFS is probably 100ish miles East of the Euro and the Euro is probably stronger but very similar positioning.

John1122
The GGEM is an apps runner, but it seems to be on the southern edge of guidance this year. GFS is basically the middle between the Euro and the GGEM.
tnweathernut
Seriously, the one night I stay up for the euro the American suite is giving me yesterday's maps again at 144 and 168........ John1122
Disregard my 2-4 on the Euro statement. Wunderground maps weren't updating from earlier runs. Usually when it's not updated it just shows a blank page, this time it just defaulted back to the runs that were showing snow.
John1122
Actual Euro... 192 LP in West Texas, 216 nothing, 240 LP sitting on NJ. I hate these 24 hour panels.

jmundie
Is it my imagination or is the GFS subtly moving southeast with the Sunday system?
John1122
Is it my imagination or is the GFS subtly moving southeast with the Sunday system? It seems to be, it's giving Kentucky a decent snow, 3+ over most of the state, with 1-2 north of 40 in Tennessee after a fairly quick changeover to snow. It's close to the apps runner the GGEM had last night.
