WeatherFox
For tomorrows event. What do you think? For NYC I say advisory. NWS has held off and has been cautious.

hohnywx
Would say advisory in NYC and immediate suburbs (S. Westchester, Hudson, etc.), with warnings elsewhere

Rtd208
I say Watch initially, still not sure where it goes from there but I would lean towards Advisory.
Stormlover74
I say Watch initially, still not sure where it goes from there but I would lean towards Advisory. A watch is already up for most of Northern NJ so either they will make those warnings or advisories. NYC won't be in the warning area for sure. I'd say Essex and Union are the two toughest calls right now.
JSantanaNYC
Yes Bergen County has been on a Winter Storm Watch since last night, so I suspect they will put up Warnings tonight. NYC doesn't have any alerts, probably will have an Advisory.

jm1220
I'd say advisory for 2-5 inches. 2" for the Rockaways and Staten Island, 5" for the Bronx. That should cover it.

I think if they were going to go with warnings they'd already be under a watch. Seems like an advisory for sure
Rtd208
WWA just issued for Middlesex County NJ for 2-4" of snow, some sleet Saturday evening and a tenth of an inch of glaze Saturday night. I am also very close to the Union County border and right across from Staten Island so it will be interesting to see how things play out tomorrow. I am also very close to the Union County border so it will be interesting to see how things play out tomorrow. And Somerset has a warning for 6 to 8" of snow, so a bit of a difference there. I'm sure the actual forecast for Middlesex is a bit more than the 2-4 mentioned in the advisory.

I am in a tough area in situations like this, more often then not we usually wind up doing better then expected frozen precip. wise, have to wait an see how this plays out tomorrow. A very tough call to say the least but I think I good one for now.

Weathergun
Upton's PFM shows 6" snow for Central Park. Should go with WWA for NYC. WSW likely NW.

WeatherFox
Okay, there it is. A winter weather advisory for the Big Apple. Let's all have good Karma so that this snowstorm over performs.
Mikehobbyst
For south shore Nassau Couny LI, is it SN -> PL-> ZR-> RN or with not much ZR? Is 4 inch snow reasonable to expect for this area ? Do we get heavy 1/4 visibility SN at any point ? Snowblower or just a shovel more realistic? Amazing rollercoater in temps from Thursday to next Sunday. Some point 52/45 temps and dewpoints to wipe out this snow, if it could last 10-12 hours, with 25 mph SW winds. Snow eating fog on the coast?? Do we go into single digits lows between Christmas and New Years, with more ice and snow ??? 1993-1994, type -EPO pattern ?

KEITH L.I
in the old days there was a hazardous driving warning...then a heavy snow warning...then a blizzard warning...this storm would be a hazardous driving conditions warning... wasn't it called a Travelers Advsory? WeatherFox
For Mikehoppyst: Plan for two inches and then you won't be disappointed. Your location is more affected because of its proximity to the milder ocean temps. Good luck anyway!
