NEG NAO
I think it shuts off earlier then modeled when looking at the WV imagery. We'll see that would be better up in NYC metro then turning to ice then heavy rain - Newark is now 19.9 Dew 19 winds still NNE
Stormlover74
How come Manhattan and Newark keep seeing dropping temps while Brooklyn and LI are seeing rising temps at the same time? Should'n't we all see rising temps as WAA ensues? No because they are just enough distance from the water and with NE winds they aren't getting the ocean influence yet. Rjay
Maybe the precip is going to pivot from the south after the coastal low takes over? Thought about it and I don't know. The coastal wont be strong enough until off of coastal NE...but this is just one amateur's opinion

Wannabehippie
I see them reporting 26 at 651pm with a NE wind. In Astoria (which is right near LGA) the wind feels like it is coming from the NE and not ENE. I just measured 3.5" of snow. Maybe we can get another inch out it before the change over? NEG NAO
12z euro was 11 degrees too warm for KNYC for 7pm. there is obviously a coastal front developing dividing east of the hudson where temps are rising and west where temps are falling - I would think anywhere above the raritan river in NJ will not rise above freezing tonight

jm1220
Without digesting all the available data. I think it is not out of the question for the NWS to upgrade to a Winter Storm Warning for New York City and portions of Long Island. Just my gut feeling and based on my experience. We have maybe an inch and a half outside. We're not getting anywhere close to warning amounts, at least not my town. I think at most we end up with 3" if the snow lasts for a while and it gets heavier before rain. The temp is creeping up now as well-we're up to 27.
