Radders
SPC Hourly mesoscale analysis shows the critical thicknesses and you can see the 1000-850 1300m blue line indicate the warmer punch and potential rain/snow line.

WintersGrasp
The models actually did show the heavier precip not working too far north before the mixing line meets it. That seems to be what is happening now....the heaviest echoes are not building NE and are staying in west central NJ....with the changeover coming north

jm1220
Returns breaking over Bergen...wonderful lol inxr1kphla (2).gif It seems like there's tons of dry air around here. Every time the snow tries to increase, the dry air cuts into it and we go back to very light snow.

NEG NAO
temp just dropped from 21 to 20 here in Northern Middlesex County NJ - Heavy Snow - this temp drop was not forecasted - so one of 2 things is going to happen north of Monmouth County NJ - it stays snow for a few hours longer then forecasted or the warmer air aloft comes in and changes it to sleet/freezing rain and there is an ice storm for several hours - I would choose the latter since winds are forecasted to increase the only think that is a positive is the trees and wires are not full of wet snow

Sundog
Well it wasn't going to stay in the low 20s forever. As long as we don't mix for as long as possible we can enjoy some heavier snow.
Wxnyc
From the radar it look like some heavier snow extends northeast to sandy hook, I hope those yellows are not sleet.

WeatherFox
Without digesting all the available data. I think it is not out of the question for the NWS to upgrade to a Winter Storm Warning for New York City and portions of Long Island. Just my gut feeling and based on my experience. tomcatct
Yes! I think we need it a bit further east to avoid the easterly fetch...is it out of the question that this cold hp slides the lp more east than forcasted?
