dwagner88
21 this morning IMBY. This matches the coldest temps I have seen since winter 2011. I haven't seen my thermometer in the teens since then. I also haven't seen any snow of significance since then.
1234snow
For the past three days there has still been frost in the afternoon where the sun doesn't hit. Low this morning was 17.
BNAwx
It's been a chilly 3-day stretch here. What little sleet and snow fell earlier this week is still sticking around in spots. The system moving in tonight may start off as a mix but flip over to rain. I'm just happy to have seen frozen precip 4 times already and it's not even winter yet by the calendar. kvskelton
Down to 24 this morning for me. Has been chilly this week, though with mild/calm winds working outside hasn't been bad at all. I did encounter some freezing fog on my way to work Tuesday morning on a stretch of road near the South Fork of the Holston River. It was nothing major but interesting to see. The trees looked great in that area as well. Shame I didn't have a camera handy.

Carvers Gap
1234...this pretty much sums it up. Here is the first system we have to follow as a region. Temps are slowly climbing here in Kingsport.
John1122
34 and sleet/snow mix here. I expect to switch to rain before too long.

EmersonGA
37 over 34 here in Gatlinburg with a cold rain falling. Assuming 441 stays open I will hopefully be posting snow pics later.

Carvers Gap
What a wild ride this has been for December in terms of temps for NE TN / TRI. We had two days @ +17 and +20. A few days ago, we were at +10. Now, throw in some below normal temps...we are all the way back to +3.2. Don't know that we return to neutral by Dec 31, but slightly above looks about right for the month - unless we get an Arctic outbreak around Christmas. What is interesting is that the return to normal leaves the door open for a normal winter temp wise, all the while w/ a +AO, -PNA, and +NAO. Imagine what the obs will be if we can flip even one of those indices.
1234snow
This event is about done but it gave a solid .36 in the bucket bringing this months total to 2.51 and we aren't quite half way yet!
John1122
I have only made it up to 38 today, 6 degrees lower than my forecast of 44. If we get into the 20s tonight with the drizzle around, it may get tricky on the roads. Light rain/drizzle tends to produce a glaze on everything and it doesn't wash off roads like the heavier freezing rain does.
Carvers Gap
With temps in the mid to upper 30s, some lingering snow showers persist here in Kingsport this morning. We have had light sleet, snow, and drizzle off and on for about three hours. Nothing even close to accumulation standards...but still nice to look at. Raw...is a good word to describe this weekend. EmersonGA
Well, 441 was closed when we left Gatlinburg to come home with no sign of them opening it. There was a pretty good snow shower in town when we left and there was a dusting at the Laurel Falls trail head so my son got to play a little in the snow. The mountains had hoarfrost on them all the way down 411 all the way to Fort Mountain so that was beautiful as well. Came home to 38 and cloudy. Stovepipe
My folks hunkered down in the basement when the tornado warned line moved through Paris. They are hearing scanner reports of damage around Henry county. So far mainly power lines and trees down. That squall line means business.
Vol Man
It's still 69 at 10:00 pm in Kingsport...just went outside to turn the Christmas lights off and it felt really strange. I'm looking forward to the cold weather that is just around the corner.
Stovepipe
Smithville, where I'm at this weekend, just went under a nader warning. I thought the line looked to be weakening so this is a bit of a surprise to me. Should be entertaining.
Stovepipe
The line is hitting me right now, crazy howling wind and rain. No close lightning yet. Pretty epic storm though, trees are bending. Edit: initial crazy wind on the front end has passed, now just heavy rain and frequent lightning and thunder. Didn't lose power so all in all, perfect storm here.
